A little more about our guest speaker Steven -
Steven Burgess is a change agent for villages, towns and cities. He brings 30+ years’ experience as a transport engineer and urban strategist to reform the balance between car space and economic space in towns and cities all over the world. He uses prosperity and happiness as a driver for better places, and structures land use and movement strategies to achieve just that. Steven has developed urban strategies for a significant number of town centres with the Complete Streets mantra of Stick, Stop, Stay, Spend (+ smile). He uses more appropriate moving patterns to induce longer stays and bigger spends in town centres.
He has also developed dozens of town centre car parking, walking, bike riding and public transport strategies. Steven is the author of ‘Complete Streets - Guidelines to Urban Street Design’ published in 2010 and was a contributor to two other international street making publications. He is an international keynote speaker on people places and of course parking, having spoken at events all around Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, Europe and the UAE.'
