Some people quietly support their community… and then there’s Erin Larkin!
It’s hard to put into words just how incredibly lucky we are to have Erin as part of our Hilton Primary community.
For those who may not realise — Erin isn’t simply someone who “knows a bit about wine”. She has built an exceptional career within the Australian and international wine industry and is widely regarded as one of the most respected and influential voices in wine criticism today.
Based here in Hilton, Erin reviews Australian and New Zealand wines for an internationally respected wine publication whose ratings and reviews are followed closely by wine lovers, collectors, producers, and industry professionals around the world. Over the years, she has also worked extensively across Australian wine media, tasting panels, wine education, judging, presenting, and events.
Her knowledge, palate, and professionalism are recognised throughout the industry and yet, despite all of that, what continually amazes us most is how generously she gives back to our school community. Year after year, Erin continues to share her time, talent, humour, incredible wine knowledge, and even donated wines to help support our primary school community.
Behind our Wine Tasting events is an enormous amount of planning, preparation, generosity, and care — and Erin brings all of it together with remarkable warmth, humility, and passion. What guests experience on the night is an evening full of laughter, storytelling, and amazing wine, but what makes it truly special is the extraordinary amount of time, energy, expertise, and support Erin so generously gives behind the scenes.
And somehow, every year, Erin manages to make everyone in the room feel welcome, relaxed, and like they suddenly know at least a little bit about wine.
What Erin brings to these evenings is so much more than wine — it’s the atmosphere she creates. Warm, engaging, entertaining, and genuinely memorable. She creates connection, laughter, confidence (“Yes, I absolutely can taste blackberries and cedar now…”), and an unforgettable experience for everyone lucky enough to attend.
Erin — thank you. Thank you for sharing your extraordinary talent so generously with our school and for supporting Hilton Primary with such enthusiasm and kindness year after year.
