COMMUNITY NOTICE | Highfields Road Works — What You Need to Know

TRC has confirmed that major intersection works are coming to Highfields, and we want to make sure our community and local businesses are across the details before they begin.

Works start Thursday 14 August at the Kratzky Road / Highfields Road / O'Brien Road intersection, with that section targeted for completion by Christmas 2026. The broader project is expected to be fully complete by 2028.

Here's what to expect:

Detour routes will be in place whenever the Kratzky/Highfields Road intersection is being actively worked on:
- Main detour: via the track between Highfields Library and the church
- Secondary detour: Highgrove Drive (50km/h speed limit enforced)

Semi-trailer access to Woolworths will be maintained via all detour routes, and works are staged one intersection at a time — so business access is maintained throughout the project.

TRC is liaising closely with affected businesses, and we'll share updates as we have them.

A huge thank you to Lara Nunn and Liam from Toowoomba Regional Council for joining us at this morning's AGM breakfast to walk us through the latest on the Highfields Road Intersection Upgrade - and for getting there so early!

Here's what's happening:

📍 Works at the Kratzky Road / Highfields Road / O'Brien Road intersection kick off next Thursday, with that section targeting completion by Christmas 2026. The full project is on track for 2028.

🚗 During works, a detour via the track between the Highfields Library and the church will be in place. Once complete, the precinct will be 40km/h with raised pedestrian crossings at every roundabout - a big win for our community.

✅ Good news for businesses: works are staged one intersection at a time with access maintained throughout. TRC is working closely with affected businesses along the way.
