Baronial Report for May 2026
Greetings, good gentles! As we draw ever nearer to winter, We hope your fires are warm and your shoes dry!
We started the month as we normally do with a Monthly Bash! Plans were made for picnics, tournaments, arts and science competitions, and we anticipated a fun day with much…rain. It was rained out. So we all went to the pub instead.
Nonetheless, the William Marshal Memorial Tournament and Feast was an exciting day of both armoured and fencing tournaments, TWO Pelican ceremonies, and much feasting (and hardly any rain)!
Their Majesties joined us, travelling from the far off Crescent Isles, and elevated both Master Brían dorcha ua Conaill and Mistress Narin Kissahan bint Nicolette to the Order of the Pelican, an acknowledgement of their many years of dedicated Service to the Society.
During Our court, We awarded a Sweeping Drakkar to Lord Angus, a Goutte de Pearl to Noble Julyan, and a Galant Drakkar to Don Everard.
Furthermore, Their Majesties announced They had found Noble Raw Pengwyne and Lord Angus Galloway to be suitable successors to Our reign and they will become the new Baron and Baron of Stormhold. Lord Raw has already stated that Lord Angus will be in charge of the weather.
The following weekend, Stormhold and Krae Glas joined forces to put on one of the best displays I’ve seen at the first Melbourne RenFair. It was an amazing weekend, with hundreds of calligraphied bookmarks created, a half dozen tournaments fought, metres and metres of spinning done, countless pieces of garb and armour tried on, and thousands of members of the public coming to see us do what we do best! During one of the armoured tournaments on Sunday We awarded Lord Yngvarr a Baronial Commendation for his unbridled enthusiasm and helpfulness.
We’re already planning on attending next year’s RenFair! Oh, and it was beautiful weather on Saturday, and on Sunday… it rained.
Coming up at the end of the month is the “June” Monthly Bash - Winter Is Coming, which will actually be on the last day of May. Come join us for our regular monthly tournament for ‘June’ at Darling Gardens. Please bring a plate to share as a picnic potluck lunch, and the theme of the Arts and Sciences Competition is ‘Winter’. Also, please be gentle with Baron Leif who will be doing a 10km fun run in armour prior to this event.
And once more We would like to talk about volunteering. Our Society only functions when many hands work together. Be it holding a Baronial Office, running events, or even just assisting with the set up, pack down, or many other jobs that make events run. If people don't put up a hand, then the same faces keep doing the same roles and we cease to function. If you have considered assisting with the smooth running of the Barony but aren't sure how, speak to Baroness eleanora, Baron Leif, or Mistress Narin and We'll be happy to steer you in the right direction.
Yours in Service,
Baroness eleanora and Baron Leif.
