Heyfield Lions Club have been at it again, cooking up a storm in February for “Parks Week”. Wellington Shire with the help of Heyfield Lions Club & Lisa Marshall Face Painting, Heyfield’s community got to enjoy a free night of sausage sizzles, fairy floss, face painting plus a free film “Minecraft” which was enjoyed by all. Thanks to the funding from Wellington Shire & their staff.

Lions Clubs consisting of Heyfield, Maffra, Sale, Stratford, Loch Sport Toongabbie & Rosedale (Zone 3-4) saw a need to assist Wurruk Primary School with their School kitchen. Principal Gayle Coleman along with staff saw a great need to improve the school kitchen facilities so their much-needed breakfast & lunch program could continue on in a safe & productive manner. Heyfield Lions were approached, & in turn made it a Zone Project. The Zone raised $50,000 to cover the cost of the refurbishment. The official opening was held on Friday March 6th, & the ribbon cut by DG Geoff Anderson with a student, Hemi. The children of the school then presented the attending Lions Clubs members with a spaghetti lunch, Garlic bread & even some cake to finish off with. All served with a smile & thank you's from each of the students. Congratulations to Principal Gayle, her staff & the students.

Last night a Heyfield Lions Club crew fed the "Kimberley Karavanners" for their annual get together. This year Heyfield was the lucky town/venue they club decided on. There were approx 130 visitors with plenty of food & banter between "KK" club members & the Heyfield Lions club guys. A fantastic bunch of people & thank you for choosing our town & facilities. The Heyfield Vintage Machinery Club along with another Lions crew will do it all again on Monday.
