Helensvale Scout Group is looking for more amazing adults to join our leadership team.

You don’t need to have been a Scout, and you don’t need to know how to tie every knot or light a fire with two sticks 😂 Training and support are provided — what matters most is being willing to get involved, have a go and help our young people grow.

Becoming a Scout Leader is about more than giving your time. You’ll be part of the adventures, learn new skills, meet some great people and help create the experiences our Joeys, Cubs and Scouts will remember for years to come.

Congratulations to our Joey Scout Leader, Anne-Marie Tonkin on achieving her Wood Badge! 👏⚜️

The Wood Badge is a significant milestone in Scout leader training and recognises a leader’s commitment to delivering quality Scouting experiences for young people.

Anne-Marie’s Wood Badge project focused on supporting Joey Scouts experiencing social and sensory challenges by creating a safe, welcoming environment where every young person can feel comfortable, included and ready to thrive.

We are incredibly proud to have such a passionate and dedicated leader as part of the Helensvale Scout Group team. Congratulations, Anne-Marie! 💚💛

🎄🪩 Christmas in July Scout Disco! 🪩🎄

Get ready for a night of music, dancing, food and festive fun with Helensvale Scout Group!

Join us on Saturday 18 July for our Christmas in July Scout Disco — a fun-filled evening where kids can dance the night away, enjoy party food, and celebrate together in their best Christmas gear.

Parents, this one is for you too! Drop the kids off for a night of supervised fun while you enjoy a hot dinner, a quiet coffee, a date night, or just a couple of peaceful hours to yourself.

🎟️ Tickets are $25 per child
Includes a hot dog, party food and a drink.

Open to ages 5–17.

Not a member? That’s ok — you can still attend! Please direct message us for information on how your child can come along.

All profits from the night will go towards the cost of our Term 3 air activities group event.

🐾 Giving Back to Our Community 🐾

Over the past term, our Cubs and Scouts, with the support of our amazing Helensvale Scout families, collected donations for the Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ).

This weekend, the youth delivered the donations and were treated to a tour of the AWLQ facilities. They learned about the vital work AWLQ does to rescue, care for, and rehome animals, met some of the cats and dogs currently looking for their forever homes, and even had the chance to give a few furry residents some pats and cuddles. 🐶🐱

Experiences like this are what Scouting is all about—helping young people develop compassion, confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community. Our youth don't just learn about making a difference; they get out there and do it.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported this project. We are incredibly proud of our Cubs and Scouts for their generosity, enthusiasm, and the way they represented Helensvale Scouts during the visit.

What a fantastic week at Helensvale Scouts! 🌟

Our Joeys kicked off their Cultural Journeys in style — each Joey received their very own passport and began exploring Australia! 🇦🇺 They got into the spirit with fun, high-energy games like Animal Freeze and Boomerang Tag… safe to say there were plenty of laughs along the way!

Cubs had a big night too! 🐾 Patrols are now set, and they spent time learning about the Scouts Code of Conduct and why it matters for working together as a team. They also started planning for Term 3 (it’s shaping up to be a great one 👀), before putting their teamwork to the test with a fun challenge — building towers strong enough to protect an egg from breaking!

Our Scouts brought the energy with team-building games before tackling their own tower challenge — designing and building structures to keep their eggs safe. Plenty of creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork on display! 🏗️🥚

It’s amazing to see all sections learning new skills, building friendships, and having fun along the way.
