We are proud to support Kez Creations and her experience at our programs. She has found something she loves after service and is investing in her wellbeing through her art work and learning horsemanship skills with us.

At Horse Aid, our horses really are as soft, gentle and calming as this little plushie version looks.

Safe to hug.
Safe to cry around.
Safe to learn with.
Safe to just be beside.

The real life version somehow manages to be just as cuddly (just with a little more hay and considerably bigger snacks).

There’s something pretty special about a horse gentle enough to make people instantly feel safe.

Enough is enough.

No more instant coffee around here.

Horse Aid officially has a coffee machine.

Now we just need one legendary human to sponsor it.

The machine cost $328 and we’d love to find a mini sponsor to help cover the purchase.

Even better… it’s tax deductible.

Send us a DM if you’d like to help keep the volunteers caffeinated and operational.

National Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect on our shared history, learn from one another, and continue walking together toward a more united future.

At Horse Aid, we believe healing happens through connection with community, with each other, and with country.

We acknowledge and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and stories, and recognise the importance of listening, learning and meaningful action. 🖤💛❤️

This week reminds us that reconciliation is not just a moment it’s something we continue to live out every day.

Over the course of the week at Horse Aid, we saw quiet but significant change.

We saw people connect.
We saw people laugh.
We saw tears.
We saw participants face fears they had been carrying for years.
We saw bravery in simple moments.

Showing up.
Trying again.
Standing beside a horse and staying present.

Some participants shared that they had made more progress with their mental health during the week than they had in years of talk therapy.

We saw people struggling with addiction go days without drinking.
Not through pressure or judgement.
Something simply began to shift.

Healing is not quick or simple.
There is no instant fix.

But there can be connection.
There can be trust.
There can be a purpose.
And there is something deeply grounding about working with horses.

Throughout the week, volunteers quietly supported every part of the program.
Moving horses.
Preparing meals.
Listening.
Being present.

One of our volunteer facilitators shared this reflection:

“Some people struggling with PTSD or mental health issues think they are completely alone. They need to be reminded they’re not.”

Horse Aid exists to create space for connection, trust and healing.
For both humans and horses.

Today on National Sorry Day, we pause to reflect, acknowledge and remember.

At Horse Aid, we recognise the strength, resilience and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the importance of connection, healing and community.
