Connect Child and Family Services

Connect Child and Family Services Celebrating Every Child Connect’s work started in Katoomba in 1981 with a small children’s disability service, Possum.

Connect now supports families through its services in communities in the Lithgow, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Western Sydney areas. Our family support programs include community based play groups, transition to school programs, volunteer-based parent and carer support programs, and the Brighter Futures program; NDIS and Medicare funded disability and allied health care and programs; and early childhood education and care in three centres in Hazelbrook and Mt Victoria.

International Day of Play is coming! 🎉

Next week, Connect will be celebrating the International Day of Play – a global movement recognising the powerful role of play in children’s learning, wellbeing and development. [unicef.org]

This year’s theme is:
“Protect Play, Protect Childhood”

It’s a reminder that every child deserves time, space and freedom to play – because play is not just fun, it’s essential for healthy development.

At Connect, we see every day how play helps children grow, connect and thrive.

👉 Stay tuned as we share simple ways families and communities can celebrate play!

Did you know we offer Playgroup Hubs in Western Sydney?

Our playgroups provide a welcoming, supportive space for parents, caregivers and children to connect, learn and grow together.

For parents and caregivers, it’s a chance to share experiences, build confidence, and access practical support from early childhood professionals.

For children, sessions offer positive social interaction, play-based learning, and activities that support development and school readiness.

Supported playgroups are also available for families who may need additional guidance, with access to specialist support where required.

See flyer below for more info, or give us a call on 47589966.

Today is National Sorry Day.
We stand in solidarity with First Nations Peoples today and every day.

National Sorry Day is a moment to remember the Stolen Generations.

These were Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, from their community and from their culture. The impact of that hurt runs deep and is still felt across our communities today.

At SNAICC, we honour their stories and stand alongside families and communities on the journey toward healing.

Happy National Volunteer Week!

This week, we celebrate the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy, skills and heart to Connect. Your dedication helps create a stronger, more connected and supportive community every single day.

A special thank you also to our Board Members, who generously volunteer their time behind the scenes — providing leadership, guidance and governance to ensure our organisation continues to grow and make a meaningful impact.

Whether you support our programs, advocate for our community, or help steer the organisation strategically, your contribution matters more than words can express.

Thank you for everything you do. Connect simply wouldn’t be possible without you.
