This Reconciliation Week, Cancer Council Australia is highlighting the important work being done around the country – both to bridge the cervical cancer gap and to advocate for appropriate public health intervention.
When it comes to cervical cancer, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are projected to achieve cervical cancer elimination only by 2047… more than two decades later than for Australian women overall.* That is one of the reasons why we continue to advocate for equitable access to cancer prevention, early detection and screening programs, to help ensure better or fairer outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Cancer Council is all in for reconciliation in cancer care, as we seek to close the gap together.
