Free Big Beach Brekky community event run by Northern Beaches Men’s Wellbeing Collective.

Narrabeen Surf Club, Cnr Albert and, Ocean St, Narrabeen
Sunday 25 October
8:30am–10:30am

The event is open to all ages and will include:
🌭 BBQ
🏐 Activities
🎵 Music
ℹ️ and information about local services and programs supporting boys’ and men’s wellbeing.

The Northern Beaches Men’s Wellbeing Collective brings together local organisations and services to improve men’s mental health and wellbeing, encourage help-seeking, increase awareness of available supports and strengthen community connections.

“Sleeping rough, you’re always on edge and you never relax. It’s not a good feeling.”

Jayme experienced homelessness for 10 years, including couch surfing and rough sleeping, while battling addiction.

Jayme eventually arrived in Orange, where he was referred to the Together Home program, leading to a stable home with Housing Plus.

Having a home has given Jayme his independence back, as well as a chance to re-connect with his family.

“Home means security, safety, comfort and warmth. For me, it meant education and helping others - that’s where it led.”

After completing rehab, Jayme worked with the Opportunity Pathways program to get back into the workforce, He completed a cadetship with Community Housing Industry Association NSW and now works full-time at Housing Plus as a Sustaining Tenancies Officer.

Jayme joined the Community Made campaign to call on our political leaders to commit to more community housing in the upcoming NSW state election in March 2027.

“Growing up, it wasn’t very stable at home. We were homeless at 17 [and] around that time I found out I was pregnant as well.”

Megan, her partner, Ben, and their four young children were renting a two-bedroom home because it was all they could afford. After a long search, Megan and her family were relieved when they found out they’d been offered a home in community housing through Trust.

“It’s given security, and that’s very important for us raising our children that they have their safe space.”

Not only is a secure home important for her children, for Megan, it’s also meant she’s become the first person in her family to study at university. After completing her studies, Megan hopes to work as a midwife.

Megan is an advocate for the Community Made campaign; where we call on our political leaders to commit to more community housing in the upcoming NSW election.

Did you know Brush Turkeys were a protected native species?

During breeding season (July to February), male birds build large nesting mounds from leaves, mulch and soil. Once eggs are present, nests are protected by law.
