Every day, we see what a safe and secure home can make possible.
It gives people stability. It strengthens families. It helps communities thrive.
But the need for social and affordable housing across [community or region] continues to grow.

🚨 Today at 2pm all mobile devices may receive a test alert.

If you have a hidden safe phone or if the alert could cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe - turn off your devices or switch them to aeroplane mode. Turn them off before the time of the test and leave them off for at least an hour.

Why is this happening? AusAlert are testing new a new national warning system being launched by the Australian Government.

What will happen? At approximately 2pm mobile devices like mobile phones, tablets or smartwatches may receive the test alert.

What is the alert? The alert will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that will last for 10 seconds.

What do you need to do? Nothing - this is only a test. But in a real emergency you should follow the alert instructions.

Aunty Karleen Green - Master Weaver

This NAIDOC Week, we are honoured to celebrate the strength, knowledge and creativity of our community.

Today we highlight Aunty Karleen Green, Master Weaver and Cultural Educator.

Born in Brisbane and raised on Bundjalung Country at Fingal Head, Aunty Karleen’s work is deeply shaped by connection to family, community and Country. After working at the NSW State Library, she discovered her passion for weaving while studying textiles in Darwin.

Today, she shares her knowledge through workshops, residencies and public programs - using weaving as both an artform and a powerful practice of cultural continuation.

Her work creates space for women to connect, learn, and heal together, ensuring cultural knowledge is passed on and strengthened.

✨ We thank Aunty Karleen for her leadership, generosity, and commitment to keeping culture strong.

This NAIDOC Week, we proudly celebrate our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tenants and community.

Today we recognise Uncle Leslie Bateman, a proud Goomairo, Kooma and Worribinda Elder.

Les is an internationally acclaimed artist, music and film producer, and traditional educator. Known for a dynamic career spanning creative arts and cultural storytelling, Les has built a legacy grounded in sharing knowledge and preserving culture across generations.

Through music, film and visual art, Les amplifies stories of Country, identity and history - ensuring culture continues to thrive in both traditional and contemporary spaces.

✨ We honour Les for his leadership, creativity, and commitment to cultural education.

What a great day at Eora NAIDOC Inner City Family Fun Day. Carriageworks rang out with the sound of children's laughter, live music, traditional and contemporary Aboriginal performances. Connections were made and renewed in the Elders Space, at the Jarjum and youth activities and over the bbq.

The day will include traditional and contemporary Aboriginal performances, live music, an Elders Space, Jarjum and youth activities, and a free BBQ.
