Thanks to you, our valued supporters, 67,000 students in 320 communities across Australia were supported to thrive in their learning this year.

Schools Plus' CEO Sherrill Nixon shares some of the highlights, including the story of Tagai State College in the Torres Strait. With 17 campuses spread across 49,000 square km's this is one of Australia's most remote and unique schools whose literacy program has succeeded even in the face of immense challenges.

The Schools Plus Teaching Awards celebrate the incredible impact of teachers across Australia.

In 2026 at Parliament House in Canberra 13 Teaching Fellows were recognised for their outstanding contributions to education. From rural and remote communities to inner city schools, these teachers are creating a future filled with possibility for the next generation.

Minister for Education The Hon. Jason Clare MP joined us in acknowledging the importance and impact of great teachers, with a special keynote presentation from Dr Charlotte Keating on the importance of wellbeing and it's impact on learning.

After a night of celebrations our Teaching Fellows joined many of our Alumni for an in-depth workshop yesterday to hear Professor Pasi Sahlberg examine the big picture question “How do we prepare young people not only to thrive in an AI-powered world, but to help create a future where people, communities and the planet flourish?”

Professor Sahlberg’s keynote was followed by a look into the ‘Year 2040’ with insights from Matthew Esterman, Daniel Edwards and Yasodai Selvakumaran.

Thank you to all who attended to share their learning, experience and insights into the future of education in Australia.

The 2026 Schools Plus Teaching Fellows - Congratulations!

Last night we celebrated Australia's exceptional teachers at the 10th anniversary of the Schools Plus Teaching Awards, showcasing the human impact of teaching.

Thank you to the Minister for Education, The Hon. Jason Clare MP for joining us to honour these teachers and to recognise the work happening in schools across the country.

From remote and regional classrooms to schools in our largest cities, these educators are changing what is possible for their students. This event was also an emotional reunion for over 50 of our alumni who joined us on this special night, alongside our Pioneers in Philanthropy David Gonski AC, Roger Massy-Greene AM and Belinda Hutchinson AC.

Each of our 13 award recipients brings a story of persistence, creativity and deep commitment to the young people they teach.

Our newest Teaching Fellows have made a measurable difference in the lives of Australian students, and our more than 150 alumni showcase the generational change made possible by great teachers.

Congratulations to every one of them.
