Can Assist Hay

Can Assist provides financial support to local residents who have been given a diagnosis of cancer. Cancer does not discriminate.

We provide our services to bridge the gap between city and country cancer patients, giving people with cancer in rural, regional and non-metropolitan areas in NSW the opportunity to have fair and equitable access to cancer care and support services. The impact it has on the patient and their loved ones is significant beyond words. Country cancer patients are faced with an even bigger hurdle in the

ir cancer journey: distance and access to services. Through the hard work and dedication of our volunteers across NSW and the generosity of individuals and communities, Can Assist is able to make a real difference to country families affected by cancer. Can Assist Hay is manned by volunteers and phone messages will be returned at our earliest convenience.

👟 What if 30 people from our community joined Can Do the Distance?

If each person raised just $400 (that's only 10 donations of $40), together we could raise $12,000 to help local people facing cancer through our Can Assist branch.

This August, we're inviting our community to take on Can Do the Distance. Can Assist's month-long walking challenge that helps local people with the everyday costs of cancer treatment. You don't have to be a marathon runner, and you don't have to walk every day. When someone in our community is diagnosed with cancer, life can change overnight. Along with treatment comes the cost of travel, accommodation, medication and everyday expenses.

That's where our volunteers step in. Every day, our people are helping local families through some of life's toughest moments. That support is only possible because of our community. The people who volunteer, donate, fundraise and look out for one another.

One thing we hear far too often is: "I didn't know Can Assist could help with that." We want to change that.

💙 Men's Health Week is a chance to start important conversations and support the health and wellbeing of men and boys in our community.

When it comes to cancer, early detection can save lives. Knowing the signs and symptoms, keeping up with regular health checks, and speaking to a doctor when something doesn't feel right are simple steps that can make a big difference.

While Men's Health Week shines a spotlight on these conversations, looking after your health is important all year round. Take a moment to check in with yourself, a mate, your dad, brother, partner, colleague, or neighbour.

A simple conversation could encourage someone to book that appointment, seek support, or get something checked sooner rather than later.
