This week we welcomed our Indigenous Year 11 and 12 students across two incredible campus days at our Hawkesbury and Liverpool City campuses!

Across the days, students took part in engaging workshops, connected with culture, and experienced what university life is all about.

A big thank you to all the schools who attended, and to our ASPIRE team and cultural providers for delivering such meaningful sessions.

We were also proud to donate 14 bikes to Souths Cares and KARI Australia, supporting young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the community 🚲

It was great to see so many students stepping onto campus and exploring their future pathways 🖤💛❤️

We are very excited to share that our programs, Heartbeat & Pathways To Dreaming, have been announced as finalists for the Engagement Australia 2024 Excellence Awards in the category of Award for Excellence in Indigenous Engagement.

Across the two programs, our programs work with over 4,000 Indigenous school aged students from Years 3 through to Year 12 to build their cultural knowledge and identity, whilst also building their aspiration to participate in higher education after high school. We also assist the students to uncover their unlimited potential and discover the study paths that await them at Western.

This announcement is recognition of the hard work of the many staff involved in these programs since their inception, of the staff currently in the team and of the deadly work done in these programs, and across Western, to help mob enter into Higher Education.

We look forward to the announcement of the winners in November 2024!
