We are on again on 13 December at the Hawker International Softball Centre.

But if your repairs can't wait until then, there are four other full service and one textile only repair cafes across Canberra that run monthly!

Thank you to all our stallholders, visitors and most of all to the volunteers who man the cafeteria, the coffee machine, the barbeque, the gate and the repairers. We couldn't run the repair cafe without them!

The Hawker Community Repair Cafe is on TODAY from 10 until 1.

There is FOOD

There is COFFEE

There are over 30 stalls with locally made items from quilts to garden art and soap to toys. Jewellery, art, baked goods, locally grown seeds and more.

There are volunteer repairers on hand to repair clothes and other textiles, leather goods, jewellery, electricals, small furniture, give advice on IT, knife and tool sharpening, small motor repairs, bikes, and more.

It's a fun event!

Are you a novice mender looking for moral support to get your mending done?

An expert mender keen to set aside time to get through the holey socks and loose buttons?

An intermediate mender who wants to mend in company?

Then social mending is for you (because it is for everyone who wants to mend their stuff!)*

We're on from 2-4 at a new location, the Aranda Fire Station, first Saturday of the month.

*Social Mending is not a place to get other people to mend your stuff, that's what the repair cafe is best for...though peer support, encouragement and mentoring is part of the social mending fun!

The Shed, out at Fyshwick, is a great place to drop of your unneeded reusable items and a great place to buy things from to avoid buying new.

And someone recently took home a holey jumper and darned it!

Love Cafe Stepping Stone and getting your stuff repaired?
Now two of Canberra's six repair cafes are run next door!
While perhaps not as professional and lovely as CSS, the Hawker Repair Cafe has yummy hot food, a popular sausage sizzle and cakes plus cold and hot drinks thanks to the Softball ACT cafeteria, the Hawker Mens Shed and our sponsors and supporters. We're next on on 21 June 😍

The first Toolbox Repair Cafe in our lovely new digs is happening THIS SATURDAY, March 28, between 2pm and 5pm (though if you come too late we won't have time to start the repair, so do plan to be there by 4:30pm at the latest).

We're now in Dickson for Repair Cafe events, in the Common Ground Hall, 8 Hawdon Place (right next to Cafe Stepping Stone. They close at 3:30pm though, so if you want to get a fabulous ☕️ and 🍰 , come early!)

HOW IT WORKS
Repair Cafés: Where volunteers fix your stuff - for free. You bring your broken or other not-working-properly item along; we match you with a volunteer repairer who can hopefully diagnose the problem, and complete the fix for you.

A full list of repairers is made available close to each date, and usually includes fabric mending (eg hemming, patching, darning), small electrical (eg lamps, kitchen appliances), knife sharpening, and general tinkering (eg gluing back small pieces). Sometimes we have more specialized help like phone and computer repair, 3D printing of small parts, and costume jewellery repair.
