🕯️ AN AUSTRALIA-WIDE CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FOR HELEN HAINES
The only response to violence is peace.
Please join us to show unconditional support for Helen Haines, her family and peace.
Following the horrific violence inflicted upon Helen, and the devastating injuries she has suffered, we invite Australians everywhere to come together in a simple, silent expression of compassion.
Friday 23 October 2026 — 8 pm Melbourne time.
Light a candle outside your front door, on your verandah, in your garden or beside a window.
Stand quietly for fifteen minutes.
There will be no speeches, no chanting, no political messages and no anger.
Only silence, respect, compassion and hope.
We cannot undo what has happened to Helen. We cannot take away her pain or the anguish her family must be experiencing.
But we can remind them that they are surrounded by people who care.
We can demonstrate that violence will not extinguish our humanity.
We can stand together, regardless of our political beliefs, our backgrounds or where we live.
Because compassion should never depend on politics.
From our cities to our smallest country towns, let candles shine across Australia.
One candle may seem insignificant, but thousands of small lights can send a powerful message.
We choose kindness over cruelty.
We choose compassion over hatred.
We choose peace over violence.
