🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE BE AWARE 🚨

We have been made aware that an email account associated with a TellEverybody writer has been hacked.

A scam email is being sent from the compromised account asking recipients to purchase a gift card because someone has cancer.

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM. Please do not respond or follow any instructions in the email.

If you receive an email like this:

• Do not click on any links.
• Do not purchase or send gift cards.
• Do not reply to the email.
• Delete the email immediately.
• Clear your Trash/Deleted Items folder so the message is permanently removed.

Even if the email appears to come from someone you know and trust, do not assume it is genuine. A hacked email account can be used to send convincing messages to the person's contacts.

If you are ever unsure about an unexpected request for money, gift cards, passwords or personal information, contact the person using a phone number or other contact method you already know is genuine, rather than replying to the email.

We are sorry for any concern or inconvenience this may cause and appreciate everyone who has taken the time to alert us.

📢 HEDGES STREET TRAFFIC – FINAL COMMUNITY CONSULTATION
MidCoast Council is undertaking a final consultation with the Harrington community before implementing a One Way traffic restriction in Hedges Street, between Pilot Street and Coode Street.
The proposal was considered by the MidCoast Council Local Transport Forum, following repeated requests for Hedges Street to become one-way.
At its Ordinary Meeting on 4 February 2026, MidCoast Council approved Option 1 – One Way westbound, from Pilot Street to Coode Street.
However, recognising that the issue is contentious within the Harrington community, Council has now provided four options for consideration before the restriction is implemented.
The four options are shown in the images accompanying this post:
Option 1: One Way westbound – Pilot Street to Coode Street (approved by Council)
Option 2: One Way eastbound – Coode Street to Pilot Street, with delivery trucks restricting the road
Option 3: One Way eastbound – Coode Street to Pilot Street, with loss of 4 parking spaces to provide a loading zone
Option 4: Do Nothing – retain two-way traffic and existing parking.
Council is inviting the community to comment on the options and indicate their preferred option.

Our usual deliverer is currently away, so we’re hoping someone might be able to lend a hand and cover this area for this edition. 🗞️❤️

Stone Families Honoured for Flood Bravery

The extraordinary courage, selflessness and community spirit shown by the Stone families during the devastating May 2025 flood has been recognised with a NSW Government Community Service Award.

During what has been described as a one-in-500-year flood event, Matthew, Anthony, Brayden and Bridget Stone put the safety of others before their own. Using oyster punts, they rescued more than 100 people trapped by rapidly rising floodwaters across Oxley, Dumaresq and Jones Islands, Moto, Coopernook and Croki.

Despite their own oyster business suffering significant losses, the family rescued residents over two days, demonstrating remarkable courage, resilience and compassion in the face of extraordinary danger.

As Robert Dwyer MP, Member for Port Macquarie, said, this award recognises not only the Stone families' extraordinary actions during the flood, but also the values of service, generosity and community that define our region.

Congratulations to the Stone families on this fitting and well-deserved honour. Your actions made an immeasurable difference to so many lives, and your bravery will be remembered for years to come. 👏
