Thunderstorms are likely today broadly over the eastern half of the state. Thunderstorms are most likely during the afternoon and continuing through the evening, with elevated storms possible across the southeast and central east during the morning.
Severe thunderstorms are likely across the far southeast and an area centred on the Northwest Slopes and Plains. Severe thunderstorms are also possible across much of the remainder of the eastern half of the state, bringing the risk of localised heavy falls leading to flash flooding, damaging winds (gusts >90km/h) and large hailstones (diameter >2cm). There remains a risk of intense rainfall about the red 'likely' areas during Thursday afternoon and evening.
For Sydney, thunderstorms are likely in the late afternoon and evening. Severe thunderstorms are a watchpoint, with the outside chance of localised heavy falls leading to flash flooding and large hailstones (diameter >2cm).
This is a forecast only. If severe storms develop, area specific warnings will be issued. If you require emergency help, call the NSW SES on 132 500 and if life-threatening, call 000 (Triple Zero).
