๐Ÿ“šโœจ Book Week at Hampton Park Community House Childrenโ€™s Service! โœจ๐Ÿ“š

What a wonderful Book Week we had! Our children and educators celebrated the magic of reading, imagination, and storytelling together. ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ‘— Dress-Up & Favourite Stories Children and educators brought favorite stories to life by coming dressed as beloved book characters and sharing their top reads.

๐Ÿ“š Story-Inspired Play Spaces We created interactive learning areas inspired by classic tales like The Gruffalo, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Where Is the Green Sheep?, and Weโ€™re Going on a Bear Hunt to encourage counting, matching, dramatic play, and language skills. ๐Ÿ›๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿฅ• Healthy Eating & Veggie Wraps Inspired by a story about our veggie garden, children made their own healthy vegetable wraps. Choosing their own ingredients built independence while learning about nutritious choices! ๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿฅ’

๐ŸŽต Music, Rhythm & Recycling After reading Every Child Had a Song, children built their own musical instruments out of recycled materialsโ€”blending creativity, rhythm, and sustainability. ๐ŸŽถโ™ป๏ธ

๐Ÿป Outdoor Bear Hunt Our little explorers headed outside on an interactive bear hunt! Navigating different textures along the trail encouraged sensory exploration, movement, and teamwork. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿป

๐ŸŽจ Design a Book Cover Children stepped into the role of author and illustrator, designing their own creative book covers through art.

Through these hands-on experiences, our children boosted their literacy, creativity, sensory awareness, and confidenceโ€”discovering that books can take us anywhere! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’•

What an incredible Science Week we had at Hampton Park Community House! ๐Ÿงชโœจ

Our young scientists dove headfirst into a world of curiosity, hands-on discovery, and vibrant experiments. From constructing erupting mini-volcanoes to exploring colourful chemical reactions and surface tension tricks, the room was buzzing with wonder all week long! ๐ŸŒ‹๐ŸŽจ

Highlights from our week of discovery:

Fizzy Eruptions: Crafting sand-and-foil volcanoes and watching the colourful lava flow.

Marbled Colour Science: Mixing food dye, milk, and dish soap to watch mesmerising patterns swirl in real-time.

Chromatography Magic: Dipping hand-drawn colour wheels into water to reveal how hidden pigments travel and separate.

Science is all about asking "why," getting your hands messy, and having a blast while learning. Thank you to all the inquisitive minds who joined in the fun! ๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿš€

What was your child's favourite experiment from Science Week? Let us know in the comments below! ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿงถ Granny Skills: Knitting! ๐Ÿ’™

Today at OSH, weโ€™re keeping the wonderful tradition of โ€œGranny Skillsโ€ alive with knitting! Our children have been learning the basics of working with wool, creating stitches and discovering the joy of making something with their own hands.

Knitting is more than just a craft โ€” it helps develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, patience and creativity. Most importantly, it gives children the opportunity to slow down, learn a new skill and feel proud of what they can create. ๐ŸŒŸ

Thereโ€™s something special about passing these much-loved skills from one generation to the next. ๐Ÿงถโค๏ธ

๐Ÿ”ฌ๐ŸŒˆ Science Week at Hampton Park Community House Kinder! ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

Science Week is here, and our children have been busy exploring, experimenting, and discovering how things work through fun, hands-on experiences!

We have explored:
๐ŸŒฑ Growing seeds in a zip-lock bag โ€“ children observed how seeds grow and learned what plants need to survive.
๐ŸŽˆ Inflating balloons โ€“ children explored air, movement and cause and effect.
๐ŸŒˆ Colour Walk โ€“ children explored colours in their environment and developed their observation skills.
๐ŸŒธ Colour-changing flowers โ€“ children discovered how water travels through plants by observing the flowers change colour.
โ˜๏ธ Colour-changing clouds โ€“ children explored how colours move, spread and mix.
๐ŸŽจ Colour mixing โ€“ children experimented with colours and discovered how new colours are created.
๐Ÿซ How our lungs work โ€“ using straws and balloons, children created a simple model of lungs. They explored how air moves in and out and learned that our lungs help us breathe.

Through these exciting experiences, children are developing curiosity, observation, prediction, problem-solving and early scientific thinking. They are learning to ask questions, make predictions, test their ideas and observe what happens. ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿ”

Science Week is helping our children discover that science is everywhere around us! ๐ŸŒโœจ
