🚗 Become an L2P Mentor!

Do you enjoy driving and want to make a real difference in a young person’s life?

Southern Grampians Shire Council is looking for volunteer mentors to join the TAC (Transport Accident Commission) L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program.

The L2P Program helps young people who don’t have access to a supervising driver or car to get the 120 hours of driving experience they need for their licence.

As a mentor, you’ll be matched with a learner driver and use one of our program cars for supervised drives.

It’s a fun and rewarding way to give back to the community — and all training, car use, and support are provided by Council.

✅ You’ll need to:

Hold a full Victorian driver’s licence

Have a good driving record

Be able to volunteer a few hours each week or fortnight

Enjoy working with young people

Interested? Send us a message or contact the L2P Coordinator at [email protected]

🚨 See Flashing Lights? Slow Down to 40km/h – Safely!

When you see flashing lights, it’s the law to slow down to 40km/h – but do it safely, especially on high-speed roads:

✅ Check your rear-view mirror first
✅ Gently reduce your speed
✅ Stay alert to traffic and road conditions
✅ Avoid braking suddenly

By slowing down safely, you protect yourself, other road users, and the people working on or near the road.

Let’s keep everyone safe on our roads.

Have you ever considered becoming a mentor with the L2P Program?

The L2P Program supports young learner drivers by giving them valuable on-road experience, mentorship, and the confidence they need to successfully get their P plates.

Warrnambool Brauer College year 12 student Tahlia James couldn't wipe the smile off her face after passing her driving test on the first go. She'd spent 90 hours learning with her volunteer mentor, Graham Odd, as part of Brophy Family and Youth Services' L2P program.
