GPT200 anyone? Gariwerd semi-local Dave Willis decided this was a great idea. We're in awe of this epic undertaking and had to share. Imaging getting to the finish line of the and turning around to run back to the start 🤯
Keep it going Dave! All the way to Mt Zero 💪

The Wurgarri (Mt Sturgeon) loop is relatively short but offers breathtaking views in all directions and provides trail runners with a challenging but fun experience.
Starting at the Mount Sturgeon Walk Carpark, an anti-clockwise loop is recommended so the steepest side of the mountain is done with a climb and the flowing trail can be done as a downhill.
Start by heading north-west from the carpark which will take you on a pleasant undulating trail parallel with the Victoria Valley Rd until you intersect the Grampians Peaks Trail. Take a left at the GPT and follow to climb all the way up to the peak of Wurgarri.
This climb shouldn’t be underestimated and is also deceiving with a false summit only revealing the true peak at the last minute, much to the dismay of many trail users!
However, if there’s anything left in the legs the runner will be rewarded with a fun and flowing downhill with views out to the west and the south as the trail descends.
Around the 6km mark runners will intersect with a management track, take a left turn to return to the carpark (noting a right turn continues on the GPT towards Dunkeld).

This trail has it all, linking up 3 lookouts with a combination of technical single-track, rocky outcrops and a small section of gravel road thrown in for good measure. Some will go for gold, making it a gruelling half-marathon whereas others will take it easy and enjoy the route over a longer period of time. Either way, you won't be disappointed.
Start at the Budja Budja trailhead and head west, straight over School Road and past the Cherub Grave.  Take the trail that goes past Venus Baths and soon you'll hit the intersection for the Boroka Lookout track pointing to the right.
Shortly after you'll find yourself crossing Mt Victory Rd wondering where the trail went. Just uphill from the roundabout (about 10m away) some stone steps mark the continuation of the trail.
The next 3.5kms involves a LOT of elevation gain to get up to Boroka, then from the viewing platform head north on the gravel road for around 4km. At the point where the Grampians Peak Trail crosses the road (don't miss it!), it's worth turning left for a out-and-back 2km round trip to Werdug Lookout.
From Werdug Lookout, the Grampians Peak Trail will take you all the way back to Halls Gap with the option of a short detour out to Chatauqua Peak for the last of 3 amazing vantage points. Enjoy the slight flowing downhill during the last third of this route, it'll make you forget about that punishing climb earlier in the day!

A local favourite utilising an amazing section of the Grampians Peaks Trail, a healthy dose of elevation gain will be sure to push the heart rate into the red zone.
Starting the Redman Road trailhead, follow the small yellow trail markers up and over the Seven Dials. After the 5th dial you'll notice the technical difficulty just stepped up a notch as you continue to the 6th dial and descend over the other side. Between the Seven Dials and Redman Bluff are not only spectacular scenes but also keep an eye out for some quite unique rock formations!
Keep climbing all the way up to Redman Bluff where you'll be rewarded with views in all directions from the giant rock cairn. Watch your footing on the way back, these descents have claimed a few ankles in recent years with the odd loose rock or slippery surface.
