NEARLY FULL - ONLY 2 SPOTS LEFT! - In this workshop we will teach everyone how to make cordage from plants and share knowledge about foraging materials found in the local area.

This is a great, practical skill to learn, and such an important resource for our ancestors, not only for basketry but for fishing, weaving clothing and more.

In the second part of the workshop we will begin weaving our cordage into a simple stitched basket or plate.

Join our experienced and amazing instructors (Yonke and Helen) to learn all about Basket Weaving in a friendly and welcoming environment.

10am, Thursday August 13 at The Haddon CLC - Only $30 – all materials provided - register soon to secure your spot.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about Bees and Beekeeping?

After this month's Food Swap, we are lucky to have Jude Porteous from Ballarat Regional Beekeepers joining us to tell us all about bees. Jude lives close by, so she has great knowledge about beekeeping in our local environment.

This FREE and friendly chat will start at 11.30am THIS FRIDAY 31st of July (straight after the monthly food swap which starts at 10), and it will go for around 45 minutes with plenty of time for discussion and questions.

Come and join us on Friday morning at The Haddon CLC :)

The July Haddon Food Swap is on NEXT FRIDAY (31/7)! Even if you don’t have anything to bring or swap, it’s just a really nice gathering with a chance to have a chat.

Looking for inspiration? We’ve had sour dough, fresh fruit and veg, kombucha, pesto, hummus and dips, home made vanilla essence, muffins, cookies, herbs (fresh and dried), seedlings, succulents, jams, pickles, empty jars and bottles, compost, worms, and an amazing assortment of seeds.

Swap starts at 10am, and we will aim to finish up about 11.30am.

This month, straight after the swap at 11.30am, we will have Jude, from Ballarat Regional Beekeepers presenting to us about Bees and Beekeeping in the local area.

Come in for a chat, a cuppa, show off your gardening/preserving/cooking skills, ask questions, share some knowledge, and take home some great local produce. Everyone is welcome - or even bring a buddy along. It’s simple: No money, just sharing 🙂

Haddon Playgroup runs during school terms at The Haddon CLC. Term 3 kicks off next week and we gather from 10am to noon every Monday.

It’s a relaxed, self-led group in a nice and warm open space - with lots of toys and books.

The friendly group is targeted at bubs to pre-school. $20 per term but come and try it out for free.

These gatherings act as a gentle introduction to social life, helping build essential skills like sharing, empathy, and language development through unstructured play. At the same time, playgroups serve as a crucial lifeline for parents and caregivers, offering a reliable space to combat the isolation of early parenting, share practical advice, and build a local support network.

Register online (haddonlearning.org.au) or call on 5342 7050.
