📌 Fun Fact:
Toastmasters International was founded over 100 years ago.
Back then, most communication happened through handwritten letters, telegrams, newspapers, and the relatively new household telephone. Radio was only just beginning to become mainstream.

Since then we've moved through radio, television, fax machines, email, smartphones, social media, Zoom, and now AI.

Yet the core skill Toastmasters teaches remains exactly the same:
Communicating your ideas clearly, confidently, and authentically.

Some things never go out of style.

Award winners from last night’s meeting. The Tabletopics Award was a tie between Frank and Wayne. Frank also grabbed the Best Speech Award. Alex S won the Evaluation Award second meeting in a row! And Dolly won the Leadership Award for conducting a fun Tabletopics session! Thank you to new member Kayla for conducting the awards.

🗣 Did you know Toastmasters has a modern learning program called Pathways?

It's designed to help you build confidence, communication, and leadership skills in a way that actually fits your individual goals.

You get to choose your own learning path based on what you want to work on and need the most for your personal or professional development.

That might be public speaking, leadership, confidence, or improving how you connect with others in social or business settings.

Each path is made up of simple, practical projects you complete at your own pace. You will get regular opportunities to speak, try new skills, and receive supportive feedback along the way.

Here's a little bit about Darryl's:

🎤 What first brought you to Toastmasters?
➡️ One of my uncle’s joined Toastmasters. He then went on to be a representative in local government. He always credited Toastmasters with giving him the skills to do this. Because of this. I was always interested in finding out more.

🎤 How long have you been a member?
➡️ 1 year, 9 months.

🎤 What surprised you most about joining?
➡️ How supportive and helpful everyone was.

🎤 What is one thing you have gained from Toastmasters so far?
➡️ Definitely, feel more confident speaking. Have improved the way I communicate.

🎤 A skill you are currently working on (speaking or life)?
➡️ Am currently learning to swim! Am a self-taught swimmer. So am learning all the nuances that go into swimming.

🎤 A hobby, interest, passion, or fun fact about you?
➡️ I grow Bonsai trees and am a member of the Sunshine Coast Bonsai Society.

🎤 One piece of encouragement you would give someone thinking of joining?
➡️ The best time to joint Toastmasters is now. The sooner you join. The sooner you can use these skills to your advantage.
