It's been more than a week since my last post, but it's been a rather busy week. Sadly our Greensomes event sponsored by long time friends Alan and Rachel Neal became our last event at Gunabul. Paul Williams and Neil Brampton now have a claim to fame as our final winners. Maybe we should make a one-off award. Rose and Don Cappetti filled second spot, it's good to see Rose pick up a prize before she moves to Thailand.
Now after 30 years of creating memories at Gunabul we start a new chapter. It may well have been our last time at the Homestead but our club will continue to tee off. Our members overwhelmingly understand the need to move on and we will live on with another name and a fresh identity.

A sincere thank you to all who have followed us over the last couple of years. I certainly intend to keep you all updated with a light hearted ,(hopefully funny) coverage of all our events. See you on the new page.

Saturday's comp will be sponsored by long time friends and supporters Alan and Rachel Neal.
It will be a Greensomes team event so grab a willing partner and let Ted or myself know who the happy couples are.
There will be a few extra prizes, a couple of t-shirts and your names will ne etched in history on the perpetual trophy.
Alan is kindly donating a couple of fillet steaks for the barbie just to add a gourmet touch to lunch.

Last Tuesday saw a "first" for our club when Terry Smith landed his tee shot on the third green. This is a rare feature as the third is the longest hole at Gunabul with a green the size of a postage stamp, could be why it has an index of 1.
Terry was remarkably unlucky not to actually put his ball in the pot, but that's golf, a game of millimetres sometimes.
Terry didn't leave empty handed though, he picked up the first Mitre 10 voucher, so well done Terry, it's a shame you missed the ace.

Our Tuesday comps don't get a lot of recognition but it's a great opportunity to fine tune our games in readiness for the more serious Saturday comps. It's a privilege enjoyed by our retired members, those of us who still have to work look on with envy.
Yesterday was a win to the Cowboy Ray Hopper. He managed 40 stableford points, not sure how he managed that along with a negative drug test. Captain Ted got second after a countback, he and Lawrie were all locked up on 37.
Andrew and Donny each landed a NTP.
So it was a most enjoyable morning and sure beats working.
A bad day at golf is always better than a good day at work.

The August Monthly Muddle has been decided and it took 3 play-off holes to break the A grade deadlock. Erik and Fred both finished with a par 54, round and neither would wave the white flag in the tie-breaker. Eventually Erik got the break and the monogrammed water bottle.
The B grade was taken out by Neil on 58 with Rose 3 shots behind.
Andrew with only 28 putts got the Jockey Club Hotel voucher while Captain Ted dropped the long putt on his first attempt. So the Gunabul Homestead voucher went straight into his pocket.
The most excited winner on the day was Luke when his ticket was drawn in the meat tray raffle. Ironically he doesn't really have a poker face.
The President's Day and Painter's day are on the horizon and dates for those comps will be locked in very soon.
Our trip to Boonooro has been put back until Sunday November 15 to enable both teams to be at full strength. It's a great day out and the Boonooroo Crew always go out of their way to make us feel welcome. The lunch they put together is epic. So circle that date on your calendar.

Don't forget Saturday is the 4 Mile Quarries monthly muddle. Much more than just an engraved water bottle is up for grabs. Each of the putting comps has a voucher. Fewest putts gets the Jockey Club Hotel's voucher while the longest putt gets the Gunabul Homestead voucher. To top it off there's a mega meat tray from T& C Family Meats and pizzas for lunch. Where else would you rather be? So get to Gunabul early, have a great morning, enjoy the hospitality, friendship and the endless BS.
New members are always welcomed with open arms, come and join the conviviality.
