We played a stroke event off the red markers on Saturday as first time Sponsor Rose Neville decided to be a little different. A bigger than normal field had the caterers a little nervous but it all worked out in the end.
First place was a tie between Don and Tubby on 53 while third was also all locked up when both Lumpy and Marcus came in on 54.
Tubby had to concede the play-off which left Don to do the washing up.
It only took Lumpy one play-off hole to grab the prizemoney for third. Marcus was let down by his putter after a better than average tee shot.
The junior division went to Oscar, so well done young fella.
Thanks to everyone who rolled up on Saturday, it's important to support our sponsored days and a special thanks to Rose Petals for her generosity in sponsoring the day.
See you Saturday.

Fresh from the final of the Sunshine Coast Junior Pennants comp the Gunabal Young Guns rocked up on Saturday to play in the GP3GC comp. They are now chasing a spot in the 2nd division for next year.
The boys need to lower a couple of handicaps to be elevated in the rankings, but under the astute guidance of mercurial super coach Pat, they are bound to give it a red hot shot.
A special thanks to team manager Steve, who flew under the radar just a little. The win was an all round team effort, including all the parents who provided a free taxi service and walked the fairways to show their support.
Well done everyone!

Last Saturday was a remarkable day for our one and only Lumpy. It's a good thing he's a one and only, we couldn't cope with 2 of him, one's more than enough. He managed to amass a remarkable 43 stableford points, 5 ahead of his nearest rival Andrew, back on 38. Normally 38 would be more than enough to collect the prizemoney, but not this time. Lumpy reckons his best is yet to come, and if he can manage to hit the ball a little further and straighter, and not miss as many putts, 50 points could happen any day.
Lawrie had a profitable morning picking up the pro pin on 12. That doesn't happen too often, almost an ace but not quite.
Moving on to this week, we'll play our first event sponsored by our Green Queen Rose Neville. We're playing a stroke event off the red markers, so here's a chance for a pink t-shirt and to share in a little extra prize pool. So see you there.
Now a reminder that our membership renewal for 26-27 is due at the end of this month. There will be a new application to complete and $20 to donate. I'll have the application forms from Saturday the 20th and after that. Please complete this small simple task asap.
New members are always welcome, so if you're a keen to compete in a regular comp and mix with some dubious people come and have a chat.

The Gunabal Young Guns travelled to Tin Can Bay today to take on the Headland team for the Junior Pennants Championship. Their luggage was just slightly heavier on the way home after a successful day out. It was all square at the end the four rounds, so the pressure fell on Raff to front up for the play-off. All was still level after the first hole but Raff steadied, held his nerve and won the second.
It was a great team effort throughout all the matches leading up to today's final. Well done Raff, Rory, Lincoln and Oscar. I can't guarantee a ticker tape parade but I'll buy you all a Coke after next Saturday's game.

Our junior boys are travelling to Tin Can Bay on Sunday for the junior pennants final. They will be tackling the Headland team based in Buderim. Throughout the entire competition these young blokes have defied the odds and managed to surprise many with victories over teams from some very high profile clubs. They have been masterfully guided by astute tactician and super coach Pat Jones, who no doubt has the boys pumped and primed for Sunday's final.
So let's all get behind them, show our support and encouragement to Oscar, Lincoln, Rory and Raff bring it home boys.

There were more winners at Gunabul on Saturday than Flemington in November. Firstly the 2026 Club Championship was decided along with the May Monthly Muddle, we also had 2 putting comps and the first round of our State Of Origin shield. So there was quite a bit to keep the scorers checking for their inevitable mistakes.
Starting with the Club Championship A grade division, Lawrie had the best gross 185 while Don recorded 174 to take best nett.
The B grade gross was taken out by Paul on 209, best nett of 170 went to Neil Brampton.
The Monthly Medal, A grade winner was Lawrie with the grey nomad Terry runner up. Great to see Terry back after a few months of wandering aimlessly across the country side.
The B grade best were Neil Brampton and Greg Kay.
The Jockey Club Hotel total putts voucher is now in Andrew Warden's pocket after recording only 28 putts. How he putts with that odd device is perplexing. Looks more like something you'd use to dig out weeds in your vege patch.
Young Rory managed to drop the longest putt so he is now in possession of the Gunabal Homestead voucher. He aced the 10th last week so he's on a bit of a roll.
Queensland's contingent stacked up 548 points but missed conversions saw them go down to the Blue Bells who somehow scraped 589 points together. That needs to be reviewed by the match committee.
Finally the meat tray raffle deserves a mention, it was won for a record 317th time by Marcus Sutton. How he does it is a mystery but he must have a black belt in barbecuing by now.
That's about it for a very busy Saturday, but it doesn't stop there, the Gunabal Fun Bus just keeps rolling along. Next week the Matchplay Championships commence, so if you haven't got your name on the list, why not? Get in touch with Ted and he'll squeeze you in somewhere.
Thanks to everyone who rolled up last week including a few fresh faces so let's make this week even bigger.
Remember we are always ready to make new members very welcome.
So don't be shy,
come and say hi!

Saturday is the final round of the Mansell's Club Championship. At this point Lawrence and Donald are leading the A grade while Paul "Maverick" Williams and Constable Hawkins are in a close tussle for the B grade. If any of the leaders have a Barry Crocker on Saturday that would open the door for a Steven Bradbury finish. So be there, it could be your name recorded for posterity.
It is also the first round of our State Of Origin series, so wear your state's colours, duck egg blue or soft lilac, depending on where you played your first round of professional golf.
See you Saturday, enjoy the day, enjoy the game, enjoy the company.
P.S. It is also May's Monthly Medal on Saturday, so there's a lot at stake. Don't make a mistake, be there.

The boys are burning, well, maybe not, but they sure are playing great golf.
On Saturday Rory aced the 10th at Gunabul. He put one straight into the pot with his 8 iron. The windy conditions made things a little difficult but that just made the shot a little sweeter. Well done Rory.

The Gunabul Junior Pennant Team is also making their mark. They had their 3rd win from 5 matches on Sunday to move into the semi finals in 2nd position in Div.2. The boys jumped from 4th to 2nd on the ladder at Sundays round at the nearby Gympie Pines. Good wins by all 3 secured a great win. Raff 9&8, Rory 5&4 and Oscar 6&5.
They head to Woodford this weekend, let's hope the success continues.

Saturday is round three of club championship 🏆 sponsored by Mansell's Concrete. Here's a chance to get your name on an honour board.
We're back to our usual 8:00 am shotgun start this week. Late arrivals will be spectators so get there early and enjoy a few of Lumpy's jokes. He may even have a new one this week, let's hope so.
We always welcome new members to our group, so if your keen to play regular competition golf come and have a chat.
Remember if you're playing golf with the right people the scorecard doesn't matter.
Cheers
