"Supporting people with a life threatening illness ... and those who care for them"

Little Haven Palliative Care is a not for profit public benevolent institution and registered charity providing compassionate and professional palliative care to people that are dying and their families and friends in the Gympie and surrounding area. A free at home hospice service, Little Haven supports about 350 people and their families annually. Palliative care provides for the well being of a

person with terminal illness, working to ensure dignity, peace and comfort for the person over the duration of his/her illness. Palliative care is also concerned with the family and carers of the person with terminal illness, supporting them in the role in caring for the ill person and also dealing with their grief during the illness and after the bereavement. In addition we provide support to people dealing with cancer and chemotherapy, bereavement support to community members dealing with grief and loss, as well as education to health professionals and the community on palliative care, death and dying and loss and grief. Our team includes Nurses, Social Workers, Volunteers and Complimentary therapists working in cooperation with the treating medical practitioners, to offer comprehensive support for the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the individual.

Little Haven offers our full support and gratitude to Sarah and her fundraising initiative, the Team Paige Trivia Night, to be held at Gunabul Homestead on Saturday 4 July 2026.

This event forms part of Sarah’s fundraising efforts for Little Haven’s Annual Gratitude Walk—a cherished community tradition where families come together to remember their loved ones, honour those we have cared for, and express gratitude for the community that stands beside them.

As National Volunteer Week wraps up, we want to acknowledge the incredible volunteers who keep Little Haven moving. They support every part of our service — easing the workload, raising funds, offering comfort, cooking, catering, and helping wherever they’re needed.

We’re lucky to have so many dedicated Little Haven volunteers who are not just helpers; they’re organisers, problem‑solvers and community connectors. We’re proud of them, and deeply grateful.

And we are incredibly grateful to the wider community of people who also contribute to Little Haven - service clubs, schools, businesses, and individual supporters who back us through their time and generosity.

Like Councillor Dolly Jensen Division 2 Gympie Regional Council and Graeme who dropped off many containers of beautiful home made soup for Haven House patients and families last week.

The list of help we recieve is endless and exhaustive, and we couldn't be more appreciative.

Yesterday, the delightful students from James Nash State High School hosted a morning tea to thank our volunteers, complete with great food and a gift box for everyone. A very thoughtful gesture that meant a lot. 🙏🩷

To all our volunteers — thank you. Little Haven is stronger because of you. 🙌🙌🙌
