🌿 Junior AECG Leadership Day 🌿

Today we proudly held our first Junior AECG meeting for the year, bringing together student leaders from across our schools to have their voices heard and make a difference in their communities.

A huge congratulations to our newly elected executive team:

🖤 Media Coordinator – Ady

Throughout the day, students participated in collaborative discussions about current issues and opportunities within our schools. Together, they developed a student survey to take back to their school communities, ensuring student voices continue to guide future directions and initiatives.

Students also worked creatively to design a Junior AECG shirt that will proudly represent our group at future events and meetings.

A highlight of the day was participating in a Smoking Ceremony, where students deepened their understanding of its cultural significance, reflecting on the importance of connection, respect, and culture.

A huge thank you to Gunnedah High School for generously hosting our meeting and providing a welcoming space for our students to connect, collaborate and lead.

We are incredibly proud of all students who attended. They represented their schools with respect, maturity and enthusiasm, demonstrating outstanding leadership throughout the day.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact our Junior AECG will have across our schools this year. 🌿

Our Junior AECG Annual General Meeting will be hosted at Gunnedah High School from 12:30pm in the Hall. We are excited to welcome and formally induct our 2026 Junior AECG Leaders.

We look forward to celebrating the leadership, voice and achievements of our young people.

Red Chief Local Aboriginal Land Council, led by the Galuma-li Dhawun Rangers, is now calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from Community Members, Organisations and Schools who would like to participate in Women’s Week 2026.

Proudly funded by NSW Women Government, this powerful week will celebrate, strengthen and showcase the voices, creativity and leadership of Aboriginal women and girls — while welcoming all community members to stand together in unity.

All community members are welcome, including non-Aboriginal community. Together we strengthen empowerment for all women of Gunnedah.

The week will include:

🔥 Traditional Smoking Ceremony and Welcoming – Monday 2 March
🎭 Dance Costume Making
🎨 Art Workshops – “Art is healing; stories are strength.”
🖌 Art & Painting – “Visualising Resilience.”
🧵 Weaving – “Weaving Threads of Connection.” (Tuesday 3 March)
📿 Jewellery Making – “Every Bead a Story.”
🧁 Baking – “Ingredients of Survival.”
💆🏽‍♀️ Pampering & Well-being – “Nurture your spirit, empower your mind.”

✨ The week will conclude with a Women’s Week Showcase on Friday 6 March 2026, celebrating the strength, resilience and powerful expressions of the women of Gunnedah.
