Warning level: ADVICE

Warning area: Between Bauple Woolooga Road and Paterson Road

A fire is burning near Paterson Road. This fire could burn for days.

Stay informed because the situation could change.

What you should do:

- Check for warning updates often and listen to your local radio station.
- Decide what you will do if the bushfire gets closer.
- If the smoke is thick where you are, stay inside and close windows and doors.
- If you need medication to help you breathe keep it close. Smoke can make it hard to breathe.
- Do not fly drones around the fire as they affect firefighting.
- If you are in danger, call Triple Zero (000) now.

Impacts:

- No properties are at risk now, but this could change.
- Some roads may be closed or impacted by smoke. It could be hard to see. You may need to drive a different way.

What firefighters are doing:

- Firefighters are working to control the fire.
- Heavy machinery are helping ground crews.
- Backburning is being done to help control the fire.

One of the simplest and most useful preparedness steps you can take is knowing exactly where official, real-time information lives when weather turns. Fraser Coast Disaster Education and Resilience dashboard pulls together weather warnings, road closures, power outages, flood cameras, river heights, evacuation centres and emergency news in one place. Many also let you opt in for SMS or email alerts tailored to your area.

Shane Kelly, an alumnus from Gundiah State School, and Aldridge State High School earned the title as a US Marine on May 29 this year at a graduation ceremony in San Diego. He is currently training as an Air Traffic Controller in Pensacola, Florida. Shane's journey has not been without obstacles and he has shown a great amount of courage, tenacity and grit to make it to this point. He is extremely happy, and is grateful for the support from past teachers and friends.

Gorja Ebert, an alumna from Gundiah State School, recently received recognition and funding from Llew O'Brien MP and the Federal Government for her sporting achievements in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association / National Juniors Wheelchair Basketball Championships.

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien congratulated local sports stars who have received grants to help them participate in state, national, and international competitions.
Under the Australian Government’s Local Sporting Champions program, recipients aged 12 to 24 will receive between $500 and $750 to help cover costs such as travel, equipment, uniforms, and accommodation.
“I congratulate these talented young athletes on their success in this latest round of the program,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Wide Bay continues to produce outstanding sporting talent..."

Too right we do! Gorja attended Gundiah State School and we at the "centre of the universe" are very proud of her! YOU GO GIRL!

WE MISS GINNI

GINNI WRIGHT 16 Feb 1953 – 9 May 2026
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Ginni’s passing. Ginni was a much-loved and active member of the Gundiah Community Place / Gundiah Memorial Hall Association. Her warm spirit and generous support for croquet and so many community events and projects will never be forgotten. Although limited by health, Ginni was a dedicated doer for our little community. Ginni has suffered from emphysema for many years and had a short run in with cancer. Ginni will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with James, her family and all who loved her.
There is a bonfire celebration for her this Saturday...
