The Scouts mixed things up for a diverse 2 night camp.

Starting with a movie night at our den, the Wednesday and Thursday Scouts were able to relax and connect at a familiar location. After a quick morning camp packup, they were off for a one hour walk to their bushland location for night 2. Some even chose to carry all their own gear. Scouting skills were practiced with a great camp roast feast, pioneering and practical camping skills.

This camp was a wonderful opportunity to provide a range of activities, catering for diverse interests, whilst including elements of the Scout program, fun and friendship.

Our Fantastic Mr Fox took the Joey Scouts to the Symphony.

This term has been all about music for the Monday and Wednesday Joey Scouts. The term outing was an educational adventure to see Peter and the Wolf. With a train ride to the city, bramble along the way and time to have fun at the park they had a diverse range of experiences that were active, fun, challenging and inclusive.

BRAVO to our leaders for organising this unique opportunity for learning and fun.

Rune’s Epic Adventurous Cub Scout Journey.

Recently a small patrol had the pleasure of joining Rune on his Adventurous Journey. This journey is one of the elements required to reach the Grey Wolf Peak Award.

Participants were chosen carefully for this challenging 10km hike starting at Spring Mountain Recreational Trail in Greenbank and ending at Ben Nevis Park in Springfield. It tested their skills and resilience and they were successfully youth led to achieve their best for an enjoyable and athletic adventure. Highlights of the walk included finding dozens of painted rocks along the trail, exploring a cave and balancing rock.

BRAVO Rune for planning and doing an adventure that met your goals and achieved a peak outcome.

The Greenbank Cub Scouts have been out and about learning Bike Skills.

Recently our Cubs were invited on a wonderful bike ride activity. The Leaders provided an activity station where they learnt a few skills: slow race (balance and control), slalom for learning to curve, plus they had to high five (single handed control), and come to a stop and balance with feet on pedals for 3 seconds. And they all enjoyed a few rides around the lake as well.

These skills were practiced to progress their Outdoor Adventure Skills, which earns them badges for their uniforms, increases personal confidence and provides opportunities for fun, friendship and fitness.

Why not 'Meet the other you', just like our Group Leader Bee.

Life can keep us focused in one direction and Scouting offers another perspective that could be right for you.

Scouting delivers to our communities resilient young people who have gained leadership experience, are physically active and who care for others.

8 Greenbank Scouts and 2 Leaders found themselves ’Wrecked’ this weekend with Scouts - Gold Coast Region.

With only their day packs and sleeping bags, tarp and string, they had to survive from Friday night to Sunday in the Gold Coast Hinterland. After an extremely windy Friday night and next to no sleep, Scouts moved to higher ground to seek shelter in the bush for Saturday night. Food rations were provided and with only foil, all cooking was done on the fire. Scouts were shown how to make a bush bed & chair and yabby traps.

We had some very proud Scouts for surviving the weekend, cooking for themselves and lighting their own fires without matches.

Thank you to the other Scouts and Venturers, who shared the weekend with us. And the Leaders and Region Team who made this learning adventure possible.

Volunteers were recognised this morning at the Logan City Council Volunteer Breakfast.

Thank you David and Wayne for representing our group. The food was amazing and it was wonderful to be invited to attend and meet representatives of other local Volunteer Organisations and Groups.

Making time to give to our community provides amazing opportunities for personal growth, friendship and enriching the lives of others.

Scouting is more successful with the support of a great Volunteer Committee.

This Volunteer Week we say 'Thank You' to the dedicated people who pay our bills, coordinate banking, maintenance, property works, cleaning, equipment, fundraising, marketing, bookings, health & safety, projects, grants, correspondence, record keeping and catering.

The business of Scouting provides the foundations of a great Scout program. Our group is lucky to have a strong, amazing committee who go the extra mile to help each other and our group.

We don't Volunteer for praise, but hearing 'Thank You' is appreciated.

This Volunteer Week we'd like to say Thank You to all of our amazing leaders.

They plan, do and review activities for our youth each week. Make time to organise and attend camps, meetings and training. They support each other and genuinely care about the difference they make in our community.

Their time, knowledge, dedication and support is appreciated.
