Really disappointed
We have been meeting at Cazalys Cairns every month for 8 years with no issues. Until now.
Having been previously informed that new furniture was arriving which we wouldn’t be allowed to move, we endeavoured to find a workable solution with management over several conversations leading up to this change.
We had two options; We had to either sit in smaller groups due to the new furniture (which I can confirm is heavy and uncomfortable) or we book a table or two.
Booking tables didn't work from the start.
• The time frame was reduced from what was booked
• No consideration of space for our members that use walkers or walking sticks
• No space to comfortably move our chairs to see and talk to people at our other table, in fact anyone that sat on three of the long sides were locked in until the people beside them moved.
• Increased OH&S risk with people having to step over project bags because of the limited space. (which has never been a problem before)
There was a generalised feeling of being unwelcome and considering we are a guaranteed revenue source every month, we were pretty stunned This is no reflection on the staff on duty that day, they did everything they could and I’m sure, felt as awkward about the situation as we did.
We hope Cazalys will reconsider and make some small accommodations so that we are welcomed back, but if its time to move on, we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for having us for all these years.
