On Saturday, we had the privilege of presenting our very first Honorary Life Memberships to two truly remarkable committee members.

Congratulations to Clive Murray and Ann Smith, who were recognised for more than 30 years of dedicated service to The Great Pyramid Race.

Over the past three decades, the event has evolved in so many ways, but Clive and Ann's commitment, passion, and dedication to both the race and our community have never wavered.

Thank you both for everything you have done to help keep The Great Pyramid Race a part of our community for over 67 years. This recognition is so richly deserved. ❤️

For the past two years, I have had the privilege of continuing the tradition of selecting a recipient for the Member for Mulgrave's Community Service Award, recognising individuals who go above and beyond in service to our community.

This year, I was delighted to present the award to Clive Murray.

Born in Ingham in 1946, Clive is proud of his Indigenous and South Sea Islander heritage. Following a long career at the Mulgrave Sugar Mill, he continues to share his wealth of knowledge and experience as a Trainer and Assessor in High-Risk Operations with Dawson's Engineering.

Clive's contribution to our region is nothing short of extraordinary. For decades, he has generously dedicated his time to numerous community organisations, including The Great Pyramid Race for over 30 years, including several years as President, and has event competed in the race himself in both the Masters and Veterans categories.

Clive is also a member of Mulgrave Landcare, President of the Gordonvale Community Gardens where he volunteers each month at the Gordonvale Cottage Markets selling plants to support the gardens. He is also a committee member of the Madjandji Aboriginal Corporation, and an Environmental Steward for the Cairns & Far North Environment Centre's Coastal Wetland Education Campaign.

His commitment to culture and education is equally inspiring. Clive regularly volunteers at local schools, teaching students about Madjanji Yidinji language and culture, and is a familiar face at NAIDOC events, Sorry Day commemorations, school liturgies, celebrations, and award ceremonies.

Through his unwavering dedication to community, culture and Country, Clive has made a lasting impact on countless lives and helped strengthen the social fabric of our region.

Congratulations, Clive. Thank you for everything you do for our community. 👏🏆
