Following completion of the new Plan for the Paddock Creek Reserve earlier this year, Friends of Paddock Creek has been progressing discussions to establish priorities.
Drawing on the community consultations undertaken during preparation of the new Plan, we have identified the following infrastructure works as high priority for the future of the Reserve:
- Footpaths connecting to the town, particularly from the area near the Rotunda and dam along Lyndhurst St to Main St.
- Toilets; water fountain and rubbish bins in the vicinity of the Rotunda.
- A new play space to replace existing basic play equipment.
- Directional signage near the post office to direct people to the Reserve.
- Traffic calming measures incorporating pedestrian crossings from the Rotunda area across Lyndhurst St to the dam area and the existing footpath running west to Brougham St. These measures are more important now that Lyndhurst St has been paved, which has resulted in greater vehicular traffic flows.
