We need your help!

The Alexandrina Council Australia Day Award nominations are open, and we would absolutely LOVE to see one of our fantastic community events nominated for Community Event of the Year! We have four events that could be in the running, but which one was YOUR favourite?

Goolwa Christmas Pageant held Sunday 7th 2025 - Our pageant team, or as we affectionally know them "the Pageant People" work incredibly hard all year to bring this to life.

Christmas Concert & Flotilla held Saturday 20th 2025 - A beautiful evening of music, community spirit and twinkling boats on the river! The Concert and Flotilla teams are just inspiring!

Riding out the Bloom - Daryl Braithwaite Concert held Saturday 17th Jan 2026 - Thankfully this event was a brilliant night but what a lot of the community aren't aware of is how hard this was and how much this nearly destroyed us. We did not go looking for this, someone brought it to us. Due to circumstances outside of our control and the loss of financial backing, we were incredibly lucky the weather was on our side. We worked incredibly hard on this and had some literal angels who stepped in to show us the way.

Australian National Busking Championships - Goolwa Regional Finals held Saturday 3rd Oct 2026 - Showcasing amazing talent and bringing our beautiful Wharf precinct to life!

Every one of these events was brought to life through the hard work, passion and dedication of our amazing volunteers, supporters and local community.

As a volunteer-run organisation, recognition like this means the world to us. It celebrates not just the events themselves, but the wonderful people who make them happen!

We would love you to nominate your favourite event for Alexandrina Council's Australia Day Event of the Year Award!

Which event gets YOUR vote? Tell us in the comments, and more importantly, please take a few minutes to submit a nomination!

Thank you for supporting our events, our volunteers and our beautiful Goolwa community! 💙

Together, we make Goolwa a wonderful place to live, work and celebrate!
