We are delighted to introduce Kathleen Gunther, who has joined the AWIA Board of Directors.

Kathleen is a seasoned marketing strategist and Founder of Gunther Consulting, helping agencies grow their brands through strategic marketing and thought leadership. With over 20 years of experience, Kathleen began her career in telecommunications with Telstra and Virgin Mobile before spending 13 years in senior roles at YoungShand, Amobee, 95bFM, Social Soup, and ICON.

Now, as a board member of AWIA, Kathleen brings her passion for inclusivity and industry leadership to support the growth of Australia’s digital landscape.

Simon Blangiardo is the Founder and Director of Sod (previously known as Straight Out Digital), a leading digital marketing agency he established a decade ago. With 20 years of industry experience, Simon’s expertise spans crafting dynamic digital strategies that seamlessly integrate paid, organic, and SEO. His leadership at Sod is marked by a commitment to innovation and client success, driving the agency to deliver impactful results.

Simon and Sod’s work was recently recognised at the Australian Web Awards 2024, where the agency won five awards and received nominations across various categories for their work on the Healthy Eating Advisory Service (HEAS), Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and Neami National websites. Kathleen Gunther is a seasoned campaigner who has been building brands for over 20 years in Australia and New Zealand. Most recently, working on the business (and not for it) as Marketing Director at ICON, Kathleen has been instrumental in developing marketing strategies that led to new market expansion, a 75% increase in revenue and a 12.5% increase in share of voice. With solid digital foundations, Kathleen firmly believes in the combined power of brand, performance and customer experience, to aid discovery, drive growth and deliver ROI.

Known for her passion for storytelling and strategic thinking, Kathleen is also a dedicated leader who champions inclusivity and culture-building. Kathleen’s expertise spans pretty much every sector you can think of but she is curious about the new ones forming as we speak and excited to share insights on marketing strategy and stakeholder engagement with you.
