We were deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of Joel Castles and send our heartfelt love and condolences to his family and friends.

Joel, along with his brother Bryce, was among the very first surfers to hit the waves with us back in 2004 when we were just getting started. Over the years, he became a familiar and much-loved face at our events, often alongside his dad Craig, who served as our Branch President from 2006 to 2016.

Joel's passion for the beach, and for music—both creating it and supporting it by seeing countless bands live—was always evident. Above all, we will remember him for his infectious smile, which lit up not only his own face but the faces of those around him.

Rest in peace, mate. You will be greatly missed.

Gail has not only been a long time surfer with us but also a member of our committee and when she's not at the beach she's doing amazing things in wheelchair basketball with the Gold Coast Rollers!

All the best on the night Gail - you definitely get our vote!!
