Disabled Surfers Association Gold Coast The Gold Coast Disabled Surfers Association takes people of all disabilities and all ages surfing in a safe, fun and friendly environment.

19 YEARS ON AND STILL GOING STRONG!

Go Anywhere! With Wheeleez™ Balloon Wheels!

Beachwheels Australia has recently completed an extensive service of seven Sandcruiser beach wheelchairs for the Disabled Surfers Association (DSA) Gold Coast.

Remarkably, some of these Sandcruisers are over 19 years old and still going strong!

At the heart of every Sandcruiser are the famous Wheeleez™ low-pressure balloon wheels, designed to make travelling across soft sand easier, helping people access beaches where conventional wheelchair wheels struggle.

Combined with marine-grade stainless steel frames, comfortable seating and a practical, serviceable design, these chairs are built for years of beach adventures.

Of course, the real stars are the wonderful DSA volunteers who dedicate their time to helping people of all abilities experience the freedom and joy of surfing.

These seven Sandcruisers are now serviced and ready for another season of DSA events at Flat Rock, Currumbin, Queensland.

Congratulations to DSA Gold Coast for the fantastic work you do. We are proud that our Sandcruisers and Wheeleez™ balloon wheels continue to play a part in making these experiences possible.

Volunteers, please register ASAP so we can gauge numbers and ensure we have enough help on the day.

CAN YOU HELP THIS SUNDAY?

We really need a volunteer to manage our car park entry on Sunday (and ideally all other events) to ensure our parking is limited to participants and key committee/team leader volunteers.

This would likely suit someone who wants to help for a short period of time but doesn't want to get down on to the beach (although you can still do that too).

You would be needed from around 7.30am (or a bit earlier) til about 10am.

We were deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of Joel Castles and send our heartfelt love and condolences to his family and friends.

Joel, along with his brother Bryce, was among the very first surfers to hit the waves with us back in 2004 when we were just getting started. Over the years, he became a familiar and much-loved face at our events, often alongside his dad Craig, who served as our Branch President from 2006 to 2016.

Joel's passion for the beach, and for music—both creating it and supporting it by seeing countless bands live—was always evident. Above all, we will remember him for his infectious smile, which lit up not only his own face but the faces of those around him.

Rest in peace, mate. You will be greatly missed.
