GUSS is a student organisation for Speech Pathology students at Griffith University Gold Coast. We aim to promote the Speech Pathology profession by engaging with Griffith University and the Gold Coast community. 💜💛 DEVELOPMENTAL LANGUAGE DISORDER AWARENESS DAY 💛💜

Today, we’re raising awareness of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and helping make the invisible more visible! 🗣️✨

Did you know that DLD affects approximately 1 in 14 people? DLD can impact how a person understands and uses language, yet it often goes unrecognised. 💭

As future speech pathologists, we have an important role to play in building awareness, advocating for people with DLD, and supporting everyone to communicate, learn and participate in everyday life. 💙

At Griffith, we’re lucky to have Shaun Ziegenfusz as a lecturer in our Master of Speech Pathology program. His research focuses on improving lifelong outcomes for people with DLD, helping contribute to a future where people with DLD are better understood and supported. 💜🔬

This year’s theme is “Together for DLD”reminding us that creating a more inclusive world takes all of us! 🤝

Let’s keep the conversation going, challenge misconceptions and help more people understand DLD. 💜💛

After months of planning and preparation, the GUSS team was so excited to bring our stall to life on Monday and it was a huge success! 🙌

Our goal was to spread awareness about what speech pathology is, what speech pathologists do, and the incredible impact they can have. 💬🧠❤️
