The Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama enjoyed a fine evening at one of our local restaurants, Clove N' Honey Ormeau. Our guest speaker, Gordon Rutty entertained us with his personal story and emotional reasons behind his “Walk to end the Wait” each year. As well as donating one of his perfectly good kidneys in 2012, he raises awareness for everyone to register as an organ donor. This year, Gordon is walking 300km over 72 hours at the Damian Leeding Memorial Park in Coomera from Friday 24th July to Monday 27th July. His annual Orange Ball at Movie World is on Saturday 8th August 2026. https://transplant.org.au/the-orange-ball/

This week is National Volunteers Week. The theme for 2026 is "Your year to volunteer". Members of volunteer groups throughout the electorate gathered today to celebrate. Minister for Local Government and Water and Minister for Fire, Disaster Recovery and Volunteers Ann Leahy and Member for Coomera Michael Crandon MP attended the event speaking with volunteers and reflecting on the importance of the role they play across Queensland.
