🇮🇩🇦🇺 MEET TAMARA EVANS — PROUDLY INDONESIAN AT HEART
Beautiful, intelligent, and deeply connected to her Indonesian roots — Tamara Evans is a wonderful example of how cultural identity can continue to flourish, even thousands of kilometres away from Indonesia.
Born in Mandurah Western Australia to an Australian father and Indonesian mother ( Kartika Riana Sari) .
Tamara spent part of her childhood growing up in Indonesia before eventually settling in Brisbane, Australia.
But Indonesia has never really left her. ❤️
Tamara graduated from Griffith University on the Gold Coast with a degree in Education and is now pursuing her career as an educator at a school in Brisbane.
Beyond her beauty and academic achievements, however, there is something about Tamara that we admire even more: her genuine love and respect for Indonesian culture.
She speaks Indonesian fluently and carries with her many of the values she learned from Indonesia — respect for others, good manners, humility, warmth, and a strong appreciation for family and community.
Most importantly, Tamara is proud of her Indonesian heritage.
And she doesn’t just say it — she lives it.
🌺 Tamara’s journey with Seharum Nusantara began in 2017, when she was only 14 years old.
At an age when many teenagers are still discovering who they are and where they belong, Tamara had already begun embracing and celebrating her Indonesian heritage through traditional dance.
What started as a young girl’s participation in Indonesian cultural activities has grown into a lasting commitment.
Nearly a decade later, she is still here — dancing, contributing, sharing and helping preserve the culture she loves.
Through Seharum Nusantara Indonesia – Gold Coast, Tamara has participated in performances showcasing the beauty and diversity of Indonesian traditional dance to Australian audiences.
Today, her role has grown even further. She is actively involved in supporting and taking responsibility for the training and development of traditional dance within Seharum Nusantara, helping others learn and appreciate Indonesia’s extraordinary cultural heritage.
From a 14-year-old young dancer in 2017 to an educated young woman who is now helping develop the next generation of dancers — what a beautiful journey! ❤️🇮🇩
For someone growing up between two cultures, maintaining such a strong connection to one’s heritage is something truly special.
Tamara reminds us that being far away from Indonesia doesn’t mean leaving Indonesia behind.
Culture is not only about where we were born.
It is about what we choose to carry in our hearts. 🇮🇩❤️
Through language, values, education, dance and community involvement, Tamara continues to carry a piece of Indonesia with her in Australia — while helping introduce its beauty to an even wider audience.
👏 Salute to you, Tamara!
May your love for Indonesia and its extraordinary culture never fade. May your journey inspire more young Indonesians and Indonesian-Australians to discover their roots, embrace their heritage, and proudly say:
“Indonesia is part of who I am.” 🇮🇩🇦🇺
Keep dancing.
Keep inspiring.
Keep Indonesia close to your heart.
Seharum Nusantara Indonesia – Gold Coast
Preserving culture, connecting generations, and proudly bringing Indonesia to Australia.
