Another busy weekend for TMC’s CAMS Officer for Northern Gold Coast, Jake, who was proud to support the Multicultural Basketball League alongside a range of community partners.

Over two incredible days, the event brought people from diverse cultural backgrounds together through sport, friendship, connection and wellbeing. More than just a basketball tournament, it created opportunities for community members and families to connect, build new relationships and celebrate the diversity that makes our region so vibrant.

Through our Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS) Program, TMC was pleased to support this community-led initiative and work alongside NIGHT SHIFT Ballers, whose commitment to creating inclusive opportunities through sport helped make the event such a success.

A special thank you to Coomera Anglican College for providing a welcoming venue for players, supporters and community members to come together, and to the Gold Coast Filipino Cultural Ensemble for sharing their culture and contributing to the vibrant atmosphere across the weekend.

Congratulations to everyone involved, from the organisers and volunteers to the players, families and supporters. Events like these play an important role in strengthening community connections, fostering inclusion and creating a sense of belonging for people from all backgrounds.

We look forward to supporting more opportunities that bring our multicultural communities together!

As part of TMC’s Project Own It Cervical Screening Gold Coast, we have recorded key messages in Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Thai and Vietnamese to help ensure women can access important cervical screening information in their preferred language.

Our 2026 campaign focuses on supporting women from Afghanistan, Thailand, Vietnam and Arabic-speaking communities to learn more about cervical screening and the choices available to them.

This is TMC’s second campaign supporting the National Cervical Screening Program, building on our commitment to improving health awareness and access across multicultural communities.

The key message from our workshops is simple:

✔ You have choices when it comes to cervical screening.
✔ Ask questions and make informed decisions.
✔ It’s your Cervical Screening Test. OWN IT.

It was a busy Saturday for TMC’s CAMS Program, with CAMS Officer for Northern Gold Coast, Jake Coates, supporting and collaborating with two community-led events that celebrated culture, connection and community participation.

The day began with the Gold Coast Hongkongers’ Mid-Autumn Festival lantern-making event, where families and community members came together to celebrate an important cultural tradition through creativity, storytelling and shared experiences.

Later, Jake joined the Queensland Nepalese Table Tennis Club’s Multicultural Table Tennis Tournament for Nepal Fundraiser, helping bring together people from diverse cultural backgrounds through sport while raising support for communities affected in Nepal.

These events are a great example of what CAMS is all about – working alongside multicultural communities, supporting community-led initiatives and creating opportunities for people from different backgrounds to connect, participate and build stronger relationships.

Thank you to the Gold Coast Hongkongers and the Queensland Nepalese Table Tennis Club for partnering with us and for the incredible work you do to strengthen and celebrate our multicultural community.

Happy Thursday! 🎉

We thought we’d brighten your feed by celebrating some of our recent Learn2Drive participants who have successfully obtained their driver’s licences! 🚗👏

Learning to drive is more than just passing a test. It opens the door to employment opportunities, education, independence and greater confidence. We are incredibly proud of every participant who has worked hard to achieve this milestone!

TMC’s Learn2Drive Safe Program is a fully NO COST Queensland Government-funded driving program, helping eligible participants across the Gold Coast and Logan gain the skills and confidence to get on the road. We are proud to be the only multicultural provider delivering this service completely free of charge!

Getting behind the wheel and making great progress, each driving lesson represents a meaningful step towards greater independence, increased confidence and removing barriers to future employment. Every participant’s journey is different, and we’re proud to support them along the way.

Eligible participants can receive:
✅ Road rules and road safety education
✅ Personalised guidance throughout their driving journey
✅ Assistance with the steps required to obtain a driver’s licence
✅ Structured support from our trained driving mentors and instructors

A huge congratulations to all of our recent licence holders. Your hard work and determination have paid off, and we can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next! 🎊
