At Horses Helping Humans Australia, we believe in respect, trust, calm communication and the power of horses to help humans become better humans.
Today, we are asking our community to stand with the Brumbies.
The current aerial and ground shooting of Brumbies in Kosciuszko National Park raises serious concerns for many people across the horse, animal welfare and wider community.
We understand that environmental management is complex. We also understand that responsible land care matters.
But how we manage these issues matters too.
As a horse-based organisation, we cannot ignore the welfare concerns, the cultural and historical significance of the Brumbies, or the growing calls for more humane and transparent alternatives.
Brumbies are part of Australia’s story. Their bloodlines are connected to the horses that helped shape our history, including the Walers who served alongside Australian soldiers.
We are supporting the call for:
The immediate suspension of aerial and ground shooting of Brumbies in Kosciuszko National Park.
An independent, peer-reviewed population survey.
A genuine multi-stakeholder process that includes horse welfare advocates, environmental experts, Traditional Custodians, scientists and community representatives.
Humane alternatives such as mustering, rehoming and fertility control to be properly considered and prioritised.
This is not about ignoring the environment.
It is about asking for better.
Better data.
Better consultation.
Better welfare standards.
Better solutions.
At Horses Helping Humans, we know that horses have so much to teach people about trust, respect, emotional regulation and calm leadership.
Now it is our turn to show leadership for them.
Please read the attached letter, sign it if you feel called to, and share this post with others who care about horses, heritage and humane outcomes.

Together, we can use our voices respectfully, but powerfully.
For the horses.
For the Brumbies.
For better humanity.
