ademy” established in 2018 and led by Matthew Lappin supports beginners through to elite playing groups with the support of Level 2 Coaches across the club. The academy’s skills based programs are elite and each player is video analysed for maximum attention to each players development
The Southport Sharks AFC won a staggering 10 QAFL premierships in a 20 year period and progressed to the NEAFL where the club won the 2018 Grand Final against the Sydney Swans. The club also progressed to the grand final in 2019 and were soundly runners up to the Brisbane Lions. In 2021 Southport Sharks were promoted to VFL finishing second on the ladder and continue to produce outstanding talent. The inaugural womens team entered Community football in Division 1 in 2020 and took out the premiership against local rivals Surfers Paradise in 2020 and 2021. The Sharks women have been promoted to QAFLW where the will field a senior and development team in 2022 giving Southport Sharks a full pathway for females aspiring to play AFLW. Southport Sharks cover teams from Auskick, superstars to junior football with U8, U9, Boys and Girls teams U10 boys, U11 Boys and Girls teams U13.5 Boys & Girls, U15.5 Boys & Girls, and U17.5 Boys & Girls with multiple divisional teams in each age group.
