Skin Patrol was proud to attend the Glen Innes Show for the first time, delivering a dedicated community skin check clinic focused on early detection and accessible care. Across the weekend, 199 community members booked in for a comprehensive skin assessment, with 163 patients screened directly by our Skin Cancer Doctor.
Our team saw more than 48 patients on Saturday, and Sunday was our largest clinic day with 58 patients. The strong turnout reflects the Glen Innes community’s proactive approach to skin health and the clear demand for specialist services in regional areas.
Seventeen lesions were identified that require follow-up, most of which showed characteristics consistent with Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC). Identifying these lesions early significantly improves treatment outcomes and can reduce the need for more complex procedures. Preventative clinics like this are critical in rural communities, where access to timely skin cancer screening can be limited.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our community sponsors who made this initiative possible. White Rock Wind Farm, GLENRAC, Rotary Glen Innes, Glen Innes Show, RSL Glen Innes, Red Cross Glen Innes, Glen Innes News, Red Range Sports Committee Inc., Glen Elgin Federation Sports Club, Pinkett Sports Management Committee, Timbs Pharmacy, and Dundee Sports. Your support plays a direct role in delivering potentially life-saving early detection services to the region.
We are grateful to everyone who booked in, showed up, and prioritised their health. Glen Innes, thank you for welcoming us so warmly. We look forward to returning to your community soon!
