This morning, GEA and Gladstone Regional Council co-hosted the Business Diversification Networking Breakfast & Panel Discussion.

Thank you to our panellists — Doug Forbes from Storage Town Gladstone, Patrick Fordyce from Berg Engineering and Terri-Ann Sheppard from BKR Group Aust Pty Ltd — for sharing practical insights on diversification, growth, partnerships and navigating change.

The key message was clear: diversification works best when businesses understand their strengths, choose opportunities carefully and build the right partnerships.

Thank you to Gladstone Regional Council for partnering with us, and to everyone who attended and contributed to a valuable morning of discussion and connection.

LAST CHANCE TO SECURE YOUR SPOT - EXCLUSIVE FOR GEA MEMBERS!

📅Tuesday 2nd June
🏢GEA Office - 4/69 Goondoon Street Gladstone
⏱️7:00am - 9:30am
💰Cost: FREE to attend - Bookings required
🎟️Bookings: https://gea.asn.au/meevents/rohlig-effective-logistics/

Join us for an exclusive breakfast session for Gladstone SMEs to explore how collaboration, consolidation, and shared logistics strategies can transform the way in which regional businesses move freight.

As small to medium enterprises already know, full container freight movements into Gladstone are currently viable. However, palletised and smaller consignments still largely rely on Brisbane as a gateway.

This breakfast session will explore how small to medium enterprises can start to rethink the existing freight model through a more collaborative, regionally-driven approach to the supply chain model.

Gladstone Engineering Alliance is proud to announce that, following a member voting and selection process, the chosen beneficiary of this year’s GEA Charity Golf Day is the Roseberry Qld Dignity Hub.

Since opening in 2017, the Roseberry Qld Dignity Hub has become a vital support service for individuals and families across the Gladstone Region experiencing homelessness, housing stress and social disadvantage.

The Hub provides free access to essential services including hot meals, grocery hampers, shower and laundry facilities, toiletries, and referral support — ensuring dignity and compassion remain at the centre of care for those facing difficult circumstances.

Demand for support has increased significantly in recent years, with more than 4,800 people accessing the service over the past 12 months alone. In March this year, the Hub distributed 726 grocery hampers — representing a 151% increase compared to the same period last year.

Importantly, the Roseberry Qld Dignity Hub receives no ongoing government funding and relies heavily on community partnerships, grants, donations and local support to continue delivering these essential services.

GEA is pleased to support an organisation making a meaningful impact within our region and looks forward to contributing to the continuation of the important work the Dignity Hub provides to the Gladstone community.

Sponsorship packages and team registrations for the 2026 GEA Charity Golf Day will be released soon.
