So great to connect at today’s Sunbury L2P Mentor Coffee Catch-Up! ☕🚗

It was a fantastic opportunity for our mentors to come together, build connections, and share their experiences, tips, and stories from supporting learner drivers through the program. These conversations are so valuable in strengthening our mentor community.

A big thank you to Rob and Rod from All Aspects Driving School for joining us and sharing their expertise. Their ongoing support plays an important role in helping prepare learners for success in the L2P program.

Well done and thank you to all our amazing mentors for the time and commitment you give to supporting young drivers in our community. 👏

Did you know the Accident Commission (TAC) can help you with driving lessons?

That's right if you meet the eligibility requirements below, they can match you with a fully licenced volunteer mentor and L2P car.

🚗 Have a learner's permit.
🚗 Aged between 16 and 21 years old.
🚗 An Australian Citizen or permanent resident, including refugees and new arrivals.
🚗 Don't have access to a supervisor or vehicle.

🌟 Meet-A-Mentor 🌟

Today we’d love you to meet one of our amazing L2P mentors — Liz!

Liz has been a mentor in the Sunbury region for 4 years, helping two young drivers reach the important milestone of 120 hours and successfully get their licences. 🚗🎉

👉 Favourite Football Team: I don’t follow football.
👉 Favourite Holiday Destination: The United Kingdom 🇬🇧

👉Why did Liz become a mentor?
"Young people need assistance. Getting my licence was important to me, and with the L2P program I saw a way to help a young person in a tangible way."

👉Liz’s thoughts on being an L2P mentor:
"I’ve built positive relationships with my learner drivers — being a sounding board and a role model is something I’m really proud of. Watching their confidence grow, not just in driving but in life, has been a delight.

One of my favourite moments was seeing my first mentee after she got her licence — she was so excited to tell me she had bought her own car and that her parking was now the envy of her friends! Moments like that show just how powerful this program is."

👉Liz’s advice for anyone thinking of becoming a mentor:
"I was nervous at first, but quickly found a routine. Empathy, communication, and trusting your instincts are key. You really will make an impact on a young person’s life!"

You’ll be able to flex your licence through the VicRoads - Registration and Licensing myVicRoads app or the Service Victoria app 📱

Whether you need to prove your ID, flash your Ls or Ps, or show your age, it can all be done on your smartphone.
