Giant Steps, located in Gladesville (Sydney) and Kew (Melbourne) operates a school and adult services program for children and adults on the autism spectrum. The world leading program is trans-disciplinary meaning intensive occupational, speech and music therapies are combined with educational programs catering specifically for each student/participant. The team approach at Giant Steps provides maximum support to families through the provision of home programs, support for siblings and frequent consultation with parents and carers. All students engage in a full range of activities which are adjusted using a variety of autism friendly strategies. Giant Steps has had remarkable success teaching children on the autism spectrum to communicate more effectively, integrating them into mainstream schools, helping them develop functional life skills and providing them the opportunity to reach their potential.
