This week we celebrate National Reconciliation Week 🌼

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

Macedon Ranges Further Education Centre acknowledges and pays respect to the past, present and emerging Traditional Custodians and Elders of this nation and the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Peoples as the traditional Owners and Custodians of the land and waterways on which we work, live and play.

We invite both taste testers and chefs alike to join us for our upcoming Reconciliation Week Bake Swap and Afternoon Tea on Tuesday the 2nd of June, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

Participants can pop into our office to pick up their tablespoon of wattle seed, lemon myrtle or aniseed myrtle, and then can bring their baked good to our afternoon tea to share and taste test other contributions.

Not much of a baker or chef? No problem! This event is also an open afternoon tea for anyone in the community to join, just let us know at the time of booking if you would like to join in on the baking fun. For further information or online enrolment, please head to our website www.mrfec.net.au or call us on 03 5428 3799.

This week is National Volunteer Week! 🥳🤸😆

This year's theme, 'Your Year to Volunteer' honours the contributions of volunteers and invites people across Australia to make 2026 a year of meaningful involvement, in ways that work for them.

We are so very lucky to have a wonderful team of compassionate dedicated volunteers here at MRFEC.

Our centre would not be the same without the stewardship of our Committee of Management, as well as the warmth our reception volunteers Matilda, Lyndi, Sally, Diane and John bring to their roles every week!

We also are very lucky to be joined each month by our fantastic volunteer facilitator for our Bingo Monday, Julie! Come along to our final Bingo for Term 2 on Monday 15th June at 10am. 🥳

Are you interested in volunteering in your local community? We want to hear from you! 📣

As a community based not-for-profit organisations, our volunteers are the backbone of everything we do and achieve. If you want to get involved, please don't hesitate to reach out to us! Even if you aren't 100% sure what capacity you can be involved in, we would love to have a conversation to see how we can best meet your needs.

Meet new people, develop new skills and gain valuable experience by volunteering with us. If you aren't sure if you have the right experience or enough experience for any of these roles, we would still love to speak to you! 😁

Thank you to our volunteers, and to all volunteers that support their community 💛

This year’s theme, “Your Place to Connect”, reflects what our centre is all about - providing a welcoming and inclusive space where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to learn, connect, and support one another.

To celebrate, this Thursday the 14th of May at 12.30pm we’ll be joining Neighbourhood Houses across Victoria to achieve the World’s Largest Community-Led Lunch Initiative, so we will be hosting a FREE Community Lunch!

A small upgrade can make a big difference — and at (MRFEC) it truly has. We are delighted to have supported Gisborne's local neighbourhood house with a grant to add three brand‑new pottery wheels to their art studio.

With the extra equipment, MRFEC has been able to increase class sizes, add an additional pottery class, and give students more time at the wheel. The new wheels are quieter, easier to clean, and a huge upgrade for teachers and learners alike.

The impact has been immediate. Sonia, who waited almost 18 months to join a class, finally secured a spot — and she’s loving not just the pottery, but the friendships and sense of belonging that come with it. For many participants, the social connection is just as valuable as the skills they’re learning.

With MRFEC's pottery classes now fully booked, to secure a spot you will need to join their waiting list. Sessions run on Wed & Thurs mornings + afternoons and Mon, Wed & Thurs evenings.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your understanding while there has been some wonderful construction occurring around our centre. While we may be a little tricky to spot, we are certainly still here and still open! 😆

As you may have noticed, the smaller carpark next to our centre is currently closed, and we aren't quite sure at this stage how long this will be for. This means that you may have to park a little further away, and at the moment pedestrian access is not available through this carpark.

If there is any support we can provide you in accessing our centre, please do not hesitate to give our team a call on 03 5428 3799 ahead of your course or any other event commencing. Whether you need a hand carrying in equipment or anything else, we will do our best to support you while you're at MRFEC.

If you have any questions about these works, please contact the Macedon Ranges Shire Council's Facility Projects team at [email protected]. Thank you for your understanding, we look forward to seeing you soon! 🙂
