Still smiling about last night @ the St Kilda Film Festival.

🧑‍🎨 Seeing some of our cast & crew treated not as “kids making a film” but as filmmakers.

Last night was about being part of a community of people who love creating things. And, man, was that awesome.

One of my favourite moments from last night at St Kilda Film Festival wasn’t actually watching Decaying on the big screen.

It was this moment: watching Max (one of our filmmakers) walk around proudly carrying his puppet, Beta.

After the screening, kids were coming up asking for selfies with them because they loved Decaying.

And, that got me.

Most of the filmmakers were older - think 18 to 21-year-old uni students & emerging filmmakers.

But there was a lovely sense of camaraderie. I stood back & watched our filmmakers chatting with other filmmakers, asking questions, sharing ideas & getting excited by what was possible. One filmmaker had spent over a year creating an animated short (Manca) & some of our kids were completely fascinated.

It felt like one of those rare, special moments where passion meets possibility.

A room full of people who love creating.

Thank you St Kilda Under the Radar for giving our young filmmakers the opportunity to be part of such a perfect evening in a gorgeous venue. 💚💜❤️

1 zombie apocalypse.

Tonight Decaying screens at the St Kilda Film Festival / Under the Radar film competition, which is the Youth Short Film Category that showcases bold & original short films by emerging filmmakers under 21.

Watching these young filmmakers take an idea from script to screen has been a privilege. Tonight, their work gets to be seen on the big screen alongside some incredible emerging talent.

🧟‍♂️ IT’S ALIVE.

Tickets are now live for Decaying: Behind the Seams at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival

This 20-minute documentary follows 35 neurodiverse actors through the making of an original film over 23 Saturdays at Full Spectrum Theatre. Expect big ideas, chaos, friendship, fake blood and the finished short film.

We’re thrilled to announce that DECAYING: Behind the Seams has been officially selected for Focus on Fests 2026 in Salt Lake City.

Focus on Fests (Mental Healthy FiT) is an immersive film & ideas festival that uses storytelling, creativity, and advocacy to spark conversations around mental health, autism, recovery, disability, and su***de prevention.

To be a part of something so monumental on starting conversations and awareness... WOW! We're thrilled.

Huge congratulations to our advanced actors who created this film.

Focus on Fests is an interactive community event aiming to increase awareness and decrease stigma through edutainment, celebration and advocacy.

Our sessions provide neurodivergent kids a safe, creative space to build confidence, friendships & self-expression through drama, play and performance.

They need places where they are not “too much”, “too sensitive”, “too loud”, “too quiet”, or “too different”.

Over 60 young actors attend on a Saturday & only 4 spots are left in our beginner’s troupe.
