By Katherine Glass A short-lived protest camp has been dismantled, but it has left questions about one Aboriginal woman’s public housing concerns, council rules and the culturally loaded language used to draw attention to her case.

It's disappointing to see the Housing Australia Future Fund program making such slow progress during a national housing crisis.

The Australian National Audit Office found the program was largely well designed, but also highlighted concerns around governance, transparency and delivery oversight.

Two years into the five-year program, only 1,432 homes have been delivered against a target of 40,000 social and affordable homes — less than 4% of the target achieved so far.

Australia urgently needs more housing supply, and delivery must accelerate dramatically if the government's targets are to be met....

A new report from the Australian National Audit Office has cast doubt on the pace of the government's social housing builds.

Together, those stories have helped expose the reality behind the headlines and strengthen the case for change.

They've informed reports used by journalists and decision-makers, helped build the case for historic reforms to investor tax breaks, and strengthened our campaigns to build more social housing and secure better protections for renters."

The 2026 Housing Survey is now open, and Everybody's Home Campaign love to hear about your experience.

Whether you're renting, paying off a mortgage, living in social housing, supporting family members through the housing crisis or struggling to find a secure home, your perspective matters.

The survey takes around 7–10 minutes to complete. Some questions are required, while others are optional, and any identifying information you choose to provide will be kept confidential. Survey findings will be reported anonymously."
