💚 Yesterday was an amazing and purposeful day 💙

I attended the Annual Children's Voices Leadership Summit with children from Port Dalrymple School and St Leonards Primary who came together to represent their schools and give a child's voice to questions Councillors had prepared. I had the opportunity to work alongside Councillor Susie Cai, An Independent Voice For Launceston and Hugh McKenzie Councillor Launceston City Council

Fairy bread, ham and cheese sandwiches, new friends, basketball, bean bags and lots of creative, inspiring and collaborative ideas on current local government issues 🥪🏀

Sunday July 28th at The Big Plant day at the George Town Council Waste Transfer Station with Tamar NRM. We have almost 4000 trees to plant. There will need to be more tree planting days so if you realise you missed out on this opportunity, comment below and I will let you know when another chance pops up :)

The Local Government Professional Development and Networking weekend has inspired me to enhance my use of social media, complementing face-to-face interactions. My goal is to provide information on community events and activities, update on Council business, and receive feedback and recommendations from the community.

Here I am with Councillor Greg Dawson and other elected members from across Tasmania after our session on meeting procedures in local government. This session highlighted how councillors can be more effective meeting participants. In particular, I gained a better understanding of how to effectively use a foreshadow motion, the importance of ensuring motions get on the table for debate, and the exceptions related to pecuniary conflict provisions.

Additionally I also made new connections with Flinders Island Council Mayor Rachel Summers, Tasman Council Mayor Rod Macdonald and Brighton Council Mayor Leigh Gray. They were very generous with their time, knowledge and insight :)

I have created a petition in paper form and electronically ( link below) to present to Council to request Council to designate and develop a space within the George Town Refuse site for the establishment of a Refuse/Tip shop.
