Last year, Emerald Library team member Anna came across a blanket project in Tasmania and took the idea to her library craft group. Their response was simple: why not do something similar for people in our own community? That idea became Care2Craft, bringing together Creative Haven at Emerald Library, craft groups from Gembrook and Pakenham, members of the St Mark’s Church craft group and plenty of individual crafters, all contributing squares and helping turn them into blankets.

So far this year, 30 blankets have been donated to St Luke’s Church in Cockatoo, where they’re shared through the weekly food pantry. Care2Craft has also recently received a Cardinia Shire Council grant, helping the project continue and bringing even more local crafters together to create something practical, warm and made with care. 💛
