If you can't avoid driving, we can drive in ways that decrease fuel use - and make it go further. When driving below 80km having your windows down is more energy efficient than using your air-con - but over 80km, and air-conditioning is better. Drag on the car reduces efficiency.

Driving smoothly, avoiding unnecessary fast acceleration or braking also increases fuel efficiency.

What a great event to support!
The Surges Bay homeschool group is running a Biggest Morning Tea (in the afternoon) this Sunday to raise money for the Cancer Council.
We've got $3,500 donated in food and prizes, and the kids have organised a bunch of amazing games - trivia, biscuit dunking, tea bag toss, and lots more.

Biggest Afternoon Tea, Sunday 21st from 2-4pm, at Surges Bay Hall

Loaves & Fishes have been, but only one lot of bread arrived and not the usual additional vegetables. Due to this we are asking people to take only one loaf of bread or pack of rolls this week and to take only what is required of other items. Thank you

Karen runs the local Haven Valley Opportunity Shop from the building behind the Geeveston Primary School, beside the car park and accessed from School Road.

It's a packed space! Clothes, books, toys, kitchen equipment, some furniture, craft supplies and odds and ends.
For $10 you can fill a bag with clothes - a great way to save while reducing the amount of fashion waste in the world.
Plus there's nothing like spotting a bargain. There's plenty of those. Karen also does up gift packs and sells them close to cost. A popular option for many.

The op shop runs on donations and Karen, in turn, gives back to the community whenever she can.
Karen, like most of us, doesn't like having her photo taken...

We're looking for a July reviewer for the Book of the Month.
250 words max on a book you've either read recently, or is one of your favourites, like Robert Jackson's June review of Swallows & Amazons - a childhood favourite.

Kelly, at the Geeveston Library does her best to bring in copies so people can borrow one there.

Reading, at all ages, is good for our brains, increases our ability to empathise, reduces stress, and builds our vocabulary.

Either send an email to [email protected], call on 6297 1616, or drop in and express your interest.

Fiona & Hudson were spotted at Geeveston IGA having a conversation on the banana phone. Who said playing with your food (or phone) isn't good for you!

Bananas are full of potassium, vitamin B, fibre. A great quick energy boost and perfect for lunchboxes for young and old

The humble sandwich. Named after John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich. Legend has it that during a prolonged gambling session, the Earl requested meat tucked between two pieces of bread to eat without interrupting his game.
Now we pile on the ingredients.

My favourite sandwich is curried egg with lettuce on super fresh rye bread. What's your favourite sandwich filling (or your least favourite). I knew someone who still hadn't forgiven their mother for making date and cream cheese filling in her school lunch sandwich. Yum!

Getting back home and discovering you've missed key ingredients can be expensive - you have to drive somewhere and then walk the aisles with blinkers so you don't buy any of the enticing, but don't need stuff - best avoided. Have you got a list system that works for you?
