More than just braids. ✨

Good food, good company and something a little different.

Blokes & Braids is heading to the beautiful Scorpio Estate on Friday 30 October for a night of good food, a few laughs and some new skills along the way.

What’s included?

✨ Chef-cooked steak and chips
✨ Drink on arrival
✨ Hands-on hairstyling and braiding
✨ Pool and good company

Whether you’re keen to master a braid or just come along for dinner and a game of pool, you’re welcome! Come solo or bring a mate.

And there’s a bigger reason behind the night.

Blokes & Braids is a fundraiser for Parent Thread, a local not-for-profit bringing parents together and helping tackle loneliness across Geelong, the Surf Coast and the Bellarine.

Every ticket helps us keep creating free and low-cost opportunities for local parents to meet, make friends and feel part of a community. 🤎

Sometimes you just need to get out of the house and talk to another grown-up. ☕

No big agenda. No pressure to know anyone. Just coffee, little ones doing their thing, and people who understand that getting out the door was probably an achievement in itself.

And this time, COMMUNITY BANK BARWON HEADS is shouting your coffee. 🤎

Join us for our October Coffee Catch-Up:

📅 Thursday 1 October
⏰ 9am–11am
📍 Interlude, Grovedale

Come alone, come late, come with a baby who refuses to nap. Just come as you are.

Interlude.

Parent Thread is made possible by people who believe that connection matters. 🤍

We’re so grateful to the businesses and individuals who choose to get behind our community and help us create more moments for parents to meet, connect and simply feel like they belong.

One of those people is Hope Johnson | TravelManagers , who is helping turn your next family holiday into a little something extra for Parent Thread too. ✈️

Book your flights and accommodation with Hope spending $5,000 or more including accommodation in your package, and mention Parent Thread when booking. Hope will donate $100 back to our community.

No extra cost to you. Just your next family adventure helping create more opportunities for parents here at Parent Thread. 🤍

Thank you, Hope, for showing up for our community and supporting what we’re building together.

So, tell us… where are you dreaming of taking the family next? 🌏✈️👇

Bookings made between now and December. Terms & conditions apply.

And just like that… Parent Thread is ONE. 🥹🎂

What a beautiful way to celebrate one whole year of this community. Thank you to every parent who has joined a coffee catch-up, brought their little one along, started a conversation, shared a story, made a new friend or simply showed up. From Bloom & Connect to Blokes & Braids, coffee catch-ups and all the little moments in between, it’s been incredible to see Parent Thread grow into a space where parents can connect, feel understood and know they’re not doing this alone. 🤍

Thank you for trusting us with your stories, your time and your community. You are the reason Parent Thread is what it is. 🤍

Here’s to another year of coffee catch-ups, little friendships, big conversations, messy moments, lots of laughs and plenty more to come.

Happy 1st Birthday, Parent Thread! 🎂🤍 And this is only the beginning. ✨

One year. Six little lessons. And so many moments we’re grateful for. 🤍

We’ve learnt that sometimes the smallest moments can mean the most.

A coffee can turn into a friendship.
A quick conversation can make someone’s day.
A playdate can become a regular catch-up.
And sometimes, simply knowing there are other parents in the same boat can make everything feel a little lighter.

Thank you for being part of those moments. Here’s to ONE year of Parent Thread and everything that’s still to come. 🎂🤍

What a night 💙

Blokes & Braids brought together a room full of dads for an evening of braiding, nail painting, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, connection.

A huge thank you to every dad who came along, gave it a go and embraced the night. One of our favourite things was seeing the absolute concentration on so many faces as they worked on getting those braids just right 🥹

And this one took a lot of people to bring together.

Thank you to Torquay Bowls Club for hosting us, and to Nikki, Hope Johnson | TravelManagers , geelongconnectedcommunities and MIMI HAIRCARE FOR KIDS for supporting the event and helping us make it happen.

To our incredible volunteers and facilitators, including Si from Simon Moore and Christelle from The Parents Guild Mount Duneed, plus everyone else who gave their time, skills and energy on the night, thank you. We genuinely couldn’t have done it without you.

There’s something pretty special about creating spaces where dads can learn something new, have a laugh and connect with other dads.

We think we might need to do this again 👀

If you’d love to bring Blokes & Braids to your venue or community, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch 💙
